Boehner Won't Call Las Vegas Shootings 'Domestic Terrorism'

Source: TPM

SAHIL KAPUR – JUNE 10, 2014, 10:33 AM EDT

Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) was asked Tuesday if he considers the Las Vegas shootings on Sunday to be "an act of domestic terrorism."

"I -- I'm not sure how I'd describe it," he responded to reporters in the Capitol. "But clearly we had a couple of sick individuals who engaged in a horrific crime. And our hearts go out to those families, especially the families of those two officers who went down."

The perpetrators, identified as Jerad Miller and Amanda Miller, killed two police officers and one civilian before taking their own lives. They appear to have harbored extreme animosity toward the federal government, mixing Second Amendment advocacy with violent rhetoric and open calls for armed revolution.

While reading this article and the quote from Boehner, "I -- I'm not sure how I'd describe it," I was reminded of this article I posted earlier:

You can bet if a gunman went into DC and shot a couple of the "representatives" it would instantly be labeled Domestic Terrorism. Boehner needs to sober up and get to work.

Perhaps the Beard Liberation Front will have to change its name, or get its door kicked in by MI5 in the middle of the night.

The GOP isn't ever going to admit to RW terrorism. It simply isn't an option for them. It's up to the Democrats, if they choose to.

Even with 2 cops shot point blank while eating lunch. Even with their bodies draped with notes and flags announcing the killers' cause.

But set fire to some expensive SUVs at a dealership, you are terrorizing the entire community.

''Whether terrorist act or just vandalism, it was an offense against the community,'' West Covina's assistant fire chief, Jerry Johnson, said.

Just goes to show that there is little point in expecting such politicians to demonstrate
either honesty or consistency.

Otherwise, it's just an unfortunate accident.

Can you seriously imagine that if arabs carried out the three terror attacks this week done by white men, there would be non-stop Malaysian Airlines-esque coverage of the men and how they were all connected together by a meeting at a mosque in 2011 (or some such)?

Funny that by doing this, they put the lie to the notion that we can't handle terrorist attacks with standard law enforcement procedures and without gutting civil liberties.

But then I wouldn't call Mr. Bonehead a "representative," either.

Its an active pattern of denial and suppression -- a lot like rape culture, IMO.
