Obama: Cantor Loss Not Death Knell of Immigration.

President Barack Obama says he rejects the notion that Tuesday's stunning loss by House Majority Leader Eric Cantor means that an overhaul of immigration laws is now out of reach.

Obama says he "fundamentally rejects" that analysis and that he will tell Republican House Speaker John Boehner to reject it as well.

Obama made his remarks Wednesday to about 40 big-dollar donors who paid $32,400 to hear him speak in a Boston suburb. The money goes to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

I don't really think Cantor is going to make that much of a difference. Keep pushing for votes. Eventually the GOP are going to lose enough seats that Boner and his buddies will be in the back room getting drunk and talking about the good old days when they had a majority.

could lead to a willingness to do immigration reform. The key then will be for Democrats to hold repubs' feet to the fire to get significant reform rather than the piecemeal, guest worker BS that some of them have hinted at.
