Gov. Scott Walker's administration starts processing gay marriage licenses

Gov. Scott Walker's administration changed course Wednesday and began processing marriage licenses for gay couples, a spokeswoman said.
Hundreds of same-sex couples have wed since a federal judge ruled on Friday that Wisconsin's ban on such unions was unconstitutional.
But the state Vital Records Office wasn't filing their marriage licenses, saying on Tuesday that it lacked guidance from state Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen.
The state records office, however, began recording and filing the licenses Wednesday after representatives of the Walker administration and Van Hollen conferred, said records office spokeswoman Stephanie Smiley.
