Rick Perry draws comparison between homosexuality, alcoholism during California visit
Source: AP
SAN FRANCISCO Texas Gov. Rick Perry drew a comparison between alcoholism and homosexuality during a California visit that also dealt with economic issues.
Perrys comments to the Commonwealth Club of California came after Texas Republican Convention on Saturday sanctioned platform language allowing Texans to seek voluntary counseling to cure being gay.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that in response to a question about the voluntary counseling, Perry said he did not know whether the therapy worked.
Perry, a former and potential future GOP presidential candidate, was then asked whether he believed that homosexuality was a disorder.

(5,668 posts)but the massive majority isn't. and connecting it to being drunk all the time ... smh thats my dad. I don't think he'd enjoy the comparison. But he'd still root for Rick . My brother found a new word for dads ilk. Tactard. a Tactical Re**** ie wannabe soldier. He's an ammo hoarder. One morning found a bunch of bullets on the floor. Yeah love stepping on bullets on a shag carpet. Don't think they were bullets though think they are the tips. brother got a bullet maker awhile back because my brother is not a tactard. he built his own AR15. dad bought his own AR15. Guess whos AR15 is worth more money than what he paid for it. zzz dads $1000 gun worth $800 now. brothers $1000 gun worth around $3000 because it's basically all metal. Who do I trust to hold a gun. My brother. I don't agree with his politics but he's safer with a gun. Dad dropping bullets all over the floor isn't. Probably knocked the boxes over when he was full of Brandy and whiskey

They have a lot of clinics out there that deal with addiction problems. Very expensive clinics that keep their client list completely private.........

Rick, here's a clue. Deregulation, Enron and rolling blackouts. If you try really hard I bet even you can remember this one.
I hope Tesla sees through this moron and avoids Texas like a plague.

Most fundamentalist therapies simply focus on replacing your drug of choice with Jesus, so they get your money instead of the liquor store. AA has a cure rate of 5%. People that don't go to drug counseling? 5%.
When Christians say these things to you, you need to call them hypocritical cowards for not killing every homosexual/atheist/Sunday worker/poly blender etc they see, as is required by their god. And no, until the end of the world, all OT law is in effect (Mat 5:17-19). Their refusal to do so demonstrates they have no faith. No faith, no religion, and constitutionally we should be able to arrest any clergy running a church that refuses to follow their holy book to the letter. And if they try following it to the letter, they get arrested for that too, starting with the bird sacrifice they used to clean their bathroom

Homophobes have a strange obsession with homosexual sexual practices and seem to believe that it is all gays think about.

Some people won't do the 'right' thing unless they join a church that tells them they'll go to hell if they don't. That's how I look at it.

(22,651 posts)Read last week 'someone' some group, tries now to pass laws that their new 'gay treatment clinics' can't be opposed or refused. You read it here first.
If they get their way the USA will see thousands of these scam 'clinics' everywhere. Tax free, funded by federal dollars and massive co-pays and of course plenty of prescription medications.
Every church will have a 'clinic' funded by the taxpayers. Online 'clinics' also. And low interest rate loans to cover the persons 'co-pay and prescription drug costs.

Okay, let me start this by saying that Rick Perry is not gay. Not at all. Not even a little bit. Not gay. Rick = no gay. Nada gayito.
He was asked yesterday about the Texas Republican Partys platform wanting reparative therapy for gay people because, obviously, they need repairing.Reuters) Texas Governor Rick Perry, seen as a potential Republican presidential candidate in the 2016 election, compared homosexuality to alcoholism in remarks in San Francisco.
I may have the genetic coding that Im inclined to be an alcoholic, but I have the desire not to do that, Perry said in remarks broadcast on the local CBS affiliate. And I look at the homosexual issue in the same way.
A few people in the audience gasped in response, according to the CBS report.
Yeah, just say no. You know, it worked so well with the drug thing that it just has to work with The Gay. Hell, that doesnt even work with alcoholism.
Rick, dude, take off your not gay cowboy hat and put on your thinking cap: you were in San Francisco. Even the most conservative Republican in the entire city believes gay is okay.
Reminder: Rick Perry is not gay.
Now remember, according to Juanita Jean Rick Perry is not gay. Please do not forget that Rick Perry is not gay.
