Senators Torch George Will For 'Ancient Beliefs About The Realities Of Sexual Assault'

Four Democratic senators were so appalled by George Will's widely panned arguments about rape statistics on college campuses that the lawmakers reached out directly to the conservative columnist to upbraid him for his "ancient beliefs."
In a letter made public on Thursday, Sens. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Diane Feinstein (D-CA) and Robert Casey (D-PA) ripped Will for a piece that has been publicly denounced by one of the columnist's own Washington Post colleagues.
"Having an ongoing interest in ways to reduce sexual assaults on college campuses, we read your June 6 column on campus sexual assault with particular dismay," the senators wrote. "Your thesis and statistics fly in the face of everything we know about this issue."
Will wrote in the column that universities have inflated sexual assault statistics, arguing that when "victimhood [becomes] a coveted status that confers privileges, victims proliferate." The line has been met with outrage, with the National Organization of Women calling on the Post this week to drop Will as a columnist.

and my friend who picked him up at the airport and got him to his

(10,495 posts)the real facts. They are as out of touch with regular Americans as Rmoney was in a McDonalds where you could tell from his comments regarding the container the burger came in, he had never seen it before! Since they rarely associate on a personal level with regular folks they rely on anecdotal stories they have heard as facts that apply across the board. Bottom line, they think they know what they are talking about, but in reality they do not have a clue!

Talk radio had been jabbing at this story (faux manliness is one of their pillars) and Will, as usual, uses a few words that are a little bit fancier.

She said no, he heard her and stopped. What happened after that is rape.
Do you understand?

(17,505 posts)Look.... Georgie..... just because that's what YOU would do doesn't mean anyone else would do it.
These days, if a conservative complains or accuses someone of something nefarious, it's because they either want to do it themselves or they already are doing it.

George Will screwed him over, but good. Revenge is a dish best served cold.
Sorry to see your thread got fucked over by "Name Removed" -- funny how some folks just can't agree to disagree; looks like that bozo was trolling hard!
Anyway, I love that he's getting some shit because it is LONG overdue.

(110 posts)Drop the Post. Boycott the Post for paying a misogynist to denigrate victims and promote violence against women. Companies don't understand morality, ethics, equality, or for that matter, anything but the bottom line. Hit 'em in the brain by hurting their bottom line. Send letters to the companies that advertise in the Post explaining why you can't support companies that fund hate.
That tactic has played hell with the Rush Limbaugh business model.
