By GEOFF MULVIHILL

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett is considering whether to ask President Barack Obama to intervene in a commuter rail strike affecting tens of thousands of people in the Philadelphia region.

Press secretary Jay Pagni said Saturday that Corbett is gathering information about his options.

One is to ask Obama to appoint an emergency board to intervene in the negotiations and block a strike for up to 240 days.

Cor-butt begging Obama to do something? The negotiations have been under federal mediation during the past couple years as it is. He'd rather let the blue city and surrounding suburbs rot in hell... but then again maybe he'll want the swing votes from some of the 'burbs that are the ones really impacted, so he'll eventually cave and grovel.

Amazing that it's been over 30 years since the last strike by these unions. Traffic is going to be a nightmare Monday.

More power to the 2 unions after all these years with no contract however. We have a couple other unions around the city that have been without a contract for about as long (DC 33 blue collar city workers, & teachers) and I am thinking that this may be the year of action for them.

Of course I'm cutting my own throat here as I'll be trying to squeeze onto one of those trolley lines Monday myself.

actually substantially addressing the concerns of the strikers, now, could he? No, that would be too easy. Gotta grandstand for and pander to the worker-and-union-hating goopers above else.

they want all unions busted. Hell, our side barely even gives lip service to unions anymore.
