In office since 1972, the Republican has received a number of awards. Metts was a 2009 honoree of the Strom Thurmond Awards for Excellence in Law Enforcement, hosted by the U.S. Attorneys Office.

(176 posts)Maybe this is naive of me, but I always associate an award as something positive. To associate Strom Thurmond with anything remotely awarding is a very bad joke.

(35,699 posts)Imagine that. I thought Republicans were dead set against illegal immigration. Apparently not when there is money to be made. Of course he is innocent until proven guilty......but it sure looks bad for Sheriff Metts.
