Boko Haram crisis: Dozens killed in villages near Chibok

Dozens of villagers are feared dead after attacks by suspected Boko Haram Islamist militants in Nigeria's northeastern Borno state.

The raids on Saturday morning were close to Chibok, from where more than 200 schoolgirls were abducted in April.

Villagers said Boko Haram fighters spent six hours on a shooting spree, chasing fleeing residents into the bush and torching homes.

Boko Haram wants to create an Islamic state in northern Nigeria....

The US can help but I don't we should lead unless we attacked.

They appear to be either 1. complicit or 2. Willfully apathetic.

BK operates with near impunity.



I think those 200+ abducted girls are gone forever. The US drones appear to be more interested in intelligence gathering than locating them. And certainly the Nigerian government has NEVER made any real attempt to find them or secure their release.

Will we ever know the truth? I doubt it. Too many countries have an interest in Nigerian resources, particularly oil. If anything they're more interested in protecting their investments, not the people.
