A lawsuit aimed at stopping crossover voting in Mississippi was dismissed by a judge in the state on Tuesday.
The race has been caught up in controversies about the practice of "crossover voting," in which some outside groups are accusing Sen. Thad Cochran's (R-MS) campaign of encouraging Democrats and African-American voters to support him in the runoff.
The lawsuit, by Ronald W. Swindall, a supporter of Mississippi state Sen. Chris McDaniel (R) was filed on Monday. McDaniel is facing Cochran in the runoff for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate.
In Mississippi, voters don't register by party in primaries. Mississippi state law prohibits people from voting in the Republican runoff if they voted in the Democracy primary on June 3.

If McDaniel had wanted to win, he should have just gone with Dewey, Cheatem & Howe....

(16,104 posts)If you vote in the Republican primary, you can only vote in the Republican runoff.
But if you vote in Democratic primary, you are welcome to crossover and vote in Republican runoff.
I wonder how in Mississippi they keep track of how you voted in the primary? Since they have a State law prohibiting crossover if you voted in primary?

They have no way to keep track of how you voted -- that we know of.

(21,475 posts)They have a list of voters for your district and we have to sign our name right next to our name on the list, after showing ID. It would be quite simple to pull out that district's list of names and compare. However other states may do it differently.
