John Boehner forms group to address child migrant crisis
Source: Politico
Speaker John Boehner said Tuesday that he has appointed a working group of House Republicans tasked to respond to the border crisis involving the surge of unaccompanied minors trying to enter the United States illegally.
In a statement, Boehner (R-Ohio) outlined no specific duties for the seven-member group aside from advising lawmakers and keeping them in the loop on the escalating humanitarian crisis.
The president has allowed a national security and humanitarian crisis to develop on the U.S. southern border, Boehner said in a statement announcing the group. There are two imperatives here: protect those children and secure our border.

Members of the working group include Republican Reps. John Carter of Texas, Mario Diaz-Balart of Florida, Bob Goodlatte of Virginia, Kay Granger of Texas, Michael McCaul of Texas, Steve Pearce of New Mexico and Matt Salmon of Arizona. Granger chairs the subcommittee that oversees funding for the State Department and foreign operations.

(338 posts)I suppose Boehner, by failing to make immigration reform a priority in the House, didn't himself "allow" anything to happen. This GOP snark is much like what happened during the Mariel boat lift of refugees from Cuba in 1980. All Carter's fault! Nevertheless, after using that crisis to political advantage, the GOP eventually embraced many of those refugees in their successful bid to help them capture a majority of Florida's elected seats. And what will Boehner's "study committee" do besides whine? Recommend we hit the kids with drone strikes as they hike through Mexico toward their parents and freedom?

(32,013 posts)You know what will make the RatPubliKKKons embrace Mexican immigrants? A Communist takeover of Mexico. I mean, there's a reason why Republicans get plenty of support from Cuban and Russian immigrants (as well as immigrants from various other Communist nations)...even going as far as to provide an illegal immigration exemption for Cuban migrants a.k.a. Wet Foot, Dry Foot. If only the so-called liberal media in America would point that out!
