'Reading Rainbow' gets hand from Seth MacFarlane

Source: AP

LOS ANGELES (AP) — LeVar Burton's "Reading Rainbow" fundraising effort is getting a boost from a generous pal, Seth MacFarlane.

MacFarlane has promised to match up to $1 million in pledges made on the Kickstarter website so that an online version of "Reading Rainbow" can be made available without charge to an expanded number of underfunded classrooms, Burton said in a statement Thursday.

MacFarlane's offer is in effect through 3 p.m. EDT on July 2, when the online fundraiser is to conclude.

Burton said he was left nearly speechless by the "extraordinary generosity" of his friend, the TV and movie writer-producer-actor whose credits include "Ted" and "Family Guy." MacFarlane's spokeswoman confirmed the offer.

MacFarlane also produced Fox's remake of Cosmos this year.

it's a lot like inserting Confucius or Hulda Clark into a history of stratigraphy
10. I wasn't aware Thony Christie did the History vs. Da Vinci Code site

He does know his stuff though, considering he's a science historian specializing in the Age of Discovery. He also wrote some good critique of a few later episodes. Just plug in Cosmos in search on his site.

Time O'Neill (Armarium Magnum) covered the Bruno brouhaha well too.

but again, I wanna see a cartoon about Campanella! the next pope he cured of melancholy with hypolydian music (since that's Venus's mode) and planetary gems on a big board of the zodiac

he got a full pardon and imprimatur, IIRC

as for Bruno, he was like 100 Aleister Crowleys stacked together--a metric hectocrowley in fact

I am looking forward to viewing it. I have read a couple of books by Degrasse Tyson and seen some videos by him. He is brilliant. I cannot imagine him dumbing down anything.
