U.S. Sends 300 More Troops, Drones, Helicopters To Iraq

Source: REUTERS

(Reuters) - The United States is again ramping up its military presence in Iraq, sending around 300 additional troops into the country as well as a detachment of helicopters and drone aircraft, the Pentagon said on Monday.

Pentagon spokesman Rear Admiral John Kirby said about 200 forces arrived on Sunday in Iraq to reinforce security at the U.S. embassy, its support facilities and Baghdad International Airport. Another 100 personnel were also due to move to Baghdad to "provide security and logistics support."

"These forces are separate and apart from the up to 300 personnel the president authorized to establish two joint operations centers and conduct an assessment of how the U.S. can provide additional support to Iraq's security forces," Kirby said in a statement.

administration and the Obama administration should be taken to court for squandering the wealth of the U.S., as a result of their military policies.

They should be held accountable for the many deaths their policies have caused.

I would love to see all enlisted personnel lay down their arms and refuse to fight these religious and corporate wars.

The U.S. is crumbling and our government continues to waste our tax dollars on these idiotic useless follies.

Looking forwards not backwards has had disastrous effects for our country and the countries we have invaded.

When we sent the first three hundred, I said it would rise to a thousand in a month, and thirty thousand by the end of the Summer.

I will be happy if proven wrong on the second point.

From the Pentagon Briefing (propaganda notes for the Pentagon pundits), March 7, 2003:

The U.S. will approach post-war Iraq with a two-part commitment: 1) to stay as long as required to achieve its objectives and 2) to leave as soon as possible, for Iraq belongs to the Iraqi people.

That raises to about 470 the number of U.S. troops providing security in Baghdad.

Those forces are separate from the teams of up to 300 U.S. military advisers that Obama authorized for deployment to Iraq earlier in June. Of those 300, about 180 had arrived as of Monday, the Pentagon said. They are assessing the state of Iraqi security forces and coordinating with Iraqi authorities.
