China jails students of Uighur scholar Ilham Tohti

Source: BBC

Seven students of imprisoned Uighur academic Ilham Tohti have been convicted of separatism and jailed, a lawyer for Tohti says.

The students, who went on trial in China's far western region of Xinjiang last month, received terms of between three and eight years.

They were accused of contributing to a website run by Tohti on Uighurs.

Tohti was sentenced to life imprisonment in September for separatism and fanning ethnic tensions.

He had spoken out on China's policies towards the Muslim Uighur minority in the restive Xinjiang region, but had denied being a separatist, and was seen by many as a moderate voice.

Pakistan trained Uighur and their disciples are a major threat everywhere. Many of them are fighting in Iraq with ISIS.

and more exposure followed by martyrdom. When guilt is obvious, civilized societies have to act for public safety.

Did Usama bin Laden get a fair trial?

Who says "guilt is obvious" in their case? They are an ethnic and religious minority that have been persecuted by the Chinese government for years. While some have been radicalized that is not true of all of them. Do you also approve of our indefinite detention of uncharged prisoners in Guantanamo and black sites around the world? Bin Laden is a different case: he declared war on the U.S. and took responsibility for the 9/11 attacks. There was no question of his guilt.

solely to form an Islamic republic, and to then do ethnic cleansing of non-muslim minorities followed by misogynistic rules, is guilty in my book.

Look at what happened to Kashmiri Pandits who were the people of Kashmir before Muslim invasions and forced conversions.
