Ecuador Family Wins Favors After Donations to Obama Campaign

Source: New York Times

MIAMI — The Obama administration overturned a ban preventing a wealthy, politically connected Ecuadorean woman from entering the United States after her family gave tens of thousands of dollars to Democratic campaigns, according to finance records and government officials.

The woman, Estefanía Isaías, had been barred from coming to the United States after being caught fraudulently obtaining visas for her maids. But the ban was lifted at the request of the State Department under former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton so that Ms. Isaías could work for an Obama fund-raiser with close ties to the administration.

It was one of several favorable decisions the Obama administration made in recent years involving the Isaías family, which the government of Ecuador accuses of buying protection from Washington and living comfortably in Miami off the profits of a looted bank in Ecuador.

So, is this the start of the 2016 presidential campaign? I have a feeling a lot of this may be bullshit.

And I was pretty surprised they got something together like this so quickly (or it seems that way to me). So now they go after Hillary and go for impeaching the Pres too - a 2 for 1.

I read a lot of BS but don't always post it here unless it is from credible sources. "Unnamed official" or "former official" stories are generally leaks and sometimes hit pieces.

In administrations of both parties? Another example is ambassadorships going not to eloquent polyglots but to those who raise the most money for the party in power.

particularly Ecuador:

US exceptionalism rhetoric poses extreme danger and is reminiscent of Nazi ideals and talk “before and during World War II,” Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa said in exclusive interview with RT Spanish.

Referring to US President Barack Obama’s statement that “America is exceptional” because it stands up not only for its own “narrow self interest, but for the interests of all," Correa said: “Does not this remind you of the Nazis’ rhetoric before and during World War II? They considered themselves the chosen race, the superior race, etc. Such words and ideas pose extreme danger,” President Correa said on RT Spanish’ Entrevista program.

want to hold off on your glee for a little while. The right wing has already been outed for a smear campaign against a "NJ senior senator." This is only being reported on sites like the blaze. I wonder if Jeb has any involvement with this family, as they seem to grease the wheels of both parties.

Miami congressional candidate Carlos Curbelo until recently represented two wealthy brothers convicted in Ecuador of embezzling hundreds of millions of dollars, the Republican acknowledged Friday.

The family of Roberto and William Isaías, who live in Miami, hired Curbelo and his government and public relations firm to try to turn public opinion against the Ecuadorean government, according to Curbelo.

“Our main goal was to disseminate information about the government of Ecuador’s human-rights violations, lack of due process and ties to other rogue regimes,” he said. He added that he and his firm, Capitol Gains, represented the family for three years, “until a few months ago.”

but this means that it's not a Democratic vs. Republican thing. It's a U.S. vs. Ecuador thing. But does that make it less worthy of interest?

Instead of this family donating to the Democrats, they're donating to the current President, the one that can grant them the favors they want. So that makes it ok?

But this is why it won't become an issue to beat Hillary over the head with. Chances are the Bush brothers are not clean either.
