Jeb Bush: No talks with 'repressive regime'
Source: The Hill
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) on Wednesday voiced his opposition to President Obama's move to begin normalizing relations with Cuba.
"I don't think we should be negotiating with a repressive regime to make changes in our relationship [until Cuba changes]," Bush said at an event in Florida on Wednesday morning, according to USA Today.
Bush announced on Tuesday that he has decided to "actively explore" a presidential run. Florida is home to a large Cuban population, and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), another possible presidential candidate, called the move "just the latest in a long line of failed attempts by President Obama to appease rogue regimes at all cost."
The Obama administration announced on Wednesday that U.S. aid worker Alan Gross had been released after being imprisoned for five years in Cuba. The administration is also in broader talks to normalize diplomatic relations.

(16,149 posts)In the early 1960s, America's top military leaders drafted plans to kill innocent people and commit acts of terrorism in U.S. cities to create public support for a war against Cuba.
Code named Operation Northwoods, the plans included sinking boats of Cuban refugees on the high seas, hijacking planes, blowing up a U.S. ship, and even orchestrating violent terrorism in U.S. cities.
The plans were developed as ways to trick the American public and the international community into supporting a war to oust Fidel Castro.
America's top military brass even contemplated causing U.S. military casualties, writing: "We could blow up a U.S. ship in Guantanamo Bay and blame Cuba," and, "casualty lists in U.S. newspapers would cause a helpful wave of national indignation."

(96 posts)well actually his puppet master Cheney tortured people?
The U.S. is probably one of the most repressive regimes in the world. They have supported dictators from Allende to the Marcos family to the Shah of Iran and beyond. And the U.S. government supports the suppression of African-Americans by police.
I think the U.N. needs to list the U.S. as one of the top 10 repressive regimes that engages in systematic human rights violations.

Jeb Bush's biggest biz partner, per BloombergNews, is the HNA Group, a Chinese conglomerate. But Cuban free trade is somehow evil?
And Marco Rubio
