Sony Execs Warned Not To Cast Denzel Washington Because Of 'Racist International Audiences'

After President Obama, Kevin Hart, and Angelina Jolie came under fire from racist Sony executives, RadarOnline.com has learned that Denzel Washington is the latest target to be revealed in the explosive hacker email leak. According to emails from the execs, two-time Oscar winner Washington should not be cast in films that will get play overseas — because he is black. The unbelievable e-mail thread was sent soon after Sony released Washington’s latest film The Equalizer, and was posted online by hackers who are demanding the studio not release The Interview, a comedy about the assassination of North Korea’s dictator. The producer who sent the e-mail to Sony Chairman Michael Lynton said he or she hoped the incredible statement wasn’t “inappropriate or provocative.” But the producer — whose name was erased from the emails — suggested Sony should avoid casting black actors to appeal to an international market that the producer deemed “racist.”
“No, I am not saying The Equalizer should not have been made or that African American actors should not have been used (I personally think Denzel is the best actor of his generation),” the producer wrote. “Casting him is saying we’re ok with a double if the picture works,” the producer wrote, using a baseball analogy. “He’s reliable at the domestic [box office], safe, but has not had a huge success in years. I believe whenever possible the non event pictures, extra ‘bets’ should have a large inherent upside and be made for the right price. Here there isn’t a large inherent upside.” Washington’s The Equalizer grossed $191 million at theaters worldwide, with 47% of the ticket sales coming from outside of the United States. Still, the e-mail chain suggested that the overseas box office percentage was not good enough. Other films should expect 65% of the sales abroad, the analysis said. The reason for the disparity? According to the producer, it was Washington’s race.
“I believe that the international motion picture audience is racist — in general pictures with an African American lead don’t play well overseas,” the producer wrote. “But Sony sometimes seems to disregard that a picture must work well internationally to both maximize returns and reduce risk, especially pics with decent size budgets.” An Equalizer sequel, which another e-mail said was set for 2017, would be “a double, with a remote chance of a home run,” the producer wrote. Along with slamming Washington’s box office draw, the analysis also took a hit at Adam Sandler and Kevin James, suggesting Sony is also swinging for a double and not a home run by casting them in the upcoming film Pixels. The email suggested that Sony “may not have had much choice without blowing the relationship with Sandler, and they want another Grownups, although after That’s My Boy they could have dumped him.”
Previous emails exposed racist jokes about President Obama, and a racist joke about the trend of white celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Madonna adopting black babies.

47% of the profits of Denzel's last movie came internationally and they say that's not enough.
Well do some additional international pr and advertising if they want it to be the alleged 65% that they want.
And I'd like to known what percentage other stars draw internationally. I'm betting those figures aren't that much different than Denzel's and that's just an excuse not to stand behind a black actor.

(120 posts)I like Denzel Washington as an actor. As a "Foreigner" Im over Hollywood's movies filled with racist overtones.
Here we have is a movie with a Black man taking out the trash so to speak, consisting of mainly Hispanics and other lowlifes. Where's the whites, do they not commit crime?
I play a little game when i do watch movies like these. What ethnicity dies in the movie first (Around 80% of the time, a Black man dies first) and how long before the American flag is shown (usually within 3 minutes)
Read the subliminal messages. Black live are of less value and America is Great.

Talk about subliminal messages — well, the black guy dying is not subliminal at all, in your face really, but the American flag shown soon after is on the subliminal side.

From the colors of red, white, and blue, to messages of defenders of freedom and democracy and the worlds saviour.
This myth of the war on terror and the battle of religions is B/S designed to cower the population and to take power.
Interestingly enough when you scratch the surface just like a lottery ticket you come to the conclusion there are really no big winners except the people that maintain control.
I took an interest in American politics when GWB was first elected, The catalyst for all this was the look on my fathers face when he "Won" power.
To put it into perspective my father grew up in Nazi occupied Holland only to witness his infant sister die of starvation and his best friend get executed for stealing bread.
Sometimes we need to look to our elders to relearn the lessons from the past.
I do hold grave fears for the future of America and how your rights and freedoms are being stripped away.I also believe you are the greatest threat to world peace. That is why i'm here. To fight WITH you, not against you.
The biggest threat is Corporate media that controls how we think, manipulates of beliefs and sense of empathy towards others with a one sided narrative of the facts.
Its interesting following the "Terrorism" case in Sydney this week (I live in New Zealand) and the outpouring of grief and the 1000s of bunches of flowers laid at the scene. I cant help wondering how they would feel if ISIS or another group "Double tapped" their funeral and blew up their dead and mourners.
Would Obame describe them as "Barbaric and inhumane"?
Only when the Media reports both sides will there be a change in peoples perceptions so they have the freedom to speak out and say enough is enough.

Where are all these documents and emails being disseminated? We keep getting glimpses of what they contain. Maybe it's my anti-social media stance, but I am unaware of any of these things going viral or widely known sites to download the data. Do the hackers not want the information spread wide and far? Are the just releasing it to select organizations which are sanitizing what comes out to us?
I don't know what to think but I'm not so sure North Korea is behind this.
