Wondering how a president's emergency powers work? @lawfareblog did this great primer a year ago which is highly relevant now that Trump has said he might declare a state of emergency to build the Wall.

Trump obviously has minions who research the applicable laws and precedents to use to his advantage.

generally won with that backbone of strategy.

They've had packs of legal advocates and they've been focused to act quickly and confidently when opportunity presents. Sponsered packs of rats thru law schools. New crop every year.

They've stepped over so many lines in the last few years that if we were organized we'd have an army of lawyers to pull all their leaders and minions into court for the duration of trump's time in office.
It's a shame we don't. His cabinet, to an individual, should all be dong jail time. His entire family should be summarily shipped to the New York State District II court in cuffs in a cheap paddy wagon over backroads New Jersey.

Guns? Gets tricky. He had the armed portion of that population in his pocket and they're permanently, chronically angry. He could turn them even more against society when his back is against the wall. The question remains, and not a pretty one, is would a cornered sociopath enlist them against his political enemies to stay out of jail?

So, Money. They've got scads of it. Have had for years. It's moving to the sidelines now. tho. - Dow jumping around like a lie detector on trump's arm. I think that's in our favor. Financial instability has already moved some more honorable r's to our camp or at least to non-aligned.

This is all analysis and opinion, so much of it will turn out to be wrong. Still, it's important to see trends. And what better place to look than 40 year old R+R lyrics...
