Trump Administration Has Blocked Anthony Fauci From Giving TV Interview For Three Months, CBS News Anchor Says

Nathan Francis

Donald Trump’s administration has been blocking Dr. Anthony Fauci from appearing on television interviews with CBS News for the last three months, a network anchor said on Sunday.

Margaret Brennan, moderator of Face the Nation, said on Sunday that the administration has been preventing Fauci and other experts from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from appearing on the network’s shows.

The message, which was also shared on the show’s Twitter account, said that the administration has not approved requests for appearances for Fauci in recent months and has approved nothing from the CDC.

As Newsweek noted, Fauci has given a number of other interviews during that time, along with other top health experts within the Trump administration. But other networks have reported difficulties in securing interviews with top health experts within the Trump administration, especially recently.

just that he's been at it for decades....but to avoid being 'complicit' he should leave, and hopefully no one takes his place, and this is better because? If Trump can replace him, that's even worse. His work is obviously not about TV appearances...but because of Trump putting a gag on him, so he can't talk to CBS he's complicit?

Consider his job:

Dr. Anthony Fauci is 'an American physician and immunologist who has served as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) since 1984. Since January 2020, he has been one of the lead members of the Trump Administration's White House Coronavirus Task Force addressing the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. During the early stages of the pandemic, The New Yorker described Fauci as one of the most trusted medical figures in the United States.[1][2]

Fauci is recognized as one of the world's leading experts on infectious diseases.[3][4] As a physician with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Fauci has served American public health in various capacities for over 50 years, and has been an advisor to every U.S. president since Ronald Reagan.[3] He has made contributions to HIV/AIDS research and other immunodeficiencies, both as a scientist and as the head of the NIAID at the NIH, and from 1983 to 2002 was one of the world's most-cited scientists in scientific journals. . .

Fauci has made important scientific observations that contributed to the understanding of regulation of the human immune response, and is recognized for delineating the mechanisms whereby immunosuppressive agents adapt to that response. He developed therapies for formerly fatal diseases such as polyarteritis nodosa, granulomatosis with polyangiitis, and lymphomatoid granulomatosis. In a 1985 Stanford University Arthritis Center Survey of the American Rheumatism Association, membership ranked Fauci's work on the treatment of polyarteritis nodosa and granulomatosis with polyangiitis as one of the most important advances in patient management in rheumatology over the previous 20 years.[15][16]

Fauci has contributed to the understanding of how HIV destroys the body's defenses leading to the progression to AIDS. He has outlined the mechanisms of induction of HIV expression by endogenous cytokines. . .

Fauci was one of the leading researchers during the AIDS epidemic in the early 1980s. . .

Fauci has been a "de facto" public health spokesperson for the office of the President during the pandemic[23][24] and strong advocate of ongoing social distancing efforts in the United States.[25] During the pandemic, Fauci was praised as a national hero for offering trustworthy information on the facts of the disease and the precautions that should be taken.[26] David Rubenstein called him "an example of the best this country has to offer".[27] On March 29, Fauci argued for the extension of the initial 15-day self-isolation guidelines, issued by the executive office, to at least until the end of April 2020.'>>>

If he quits he won’t have any ability to affect the federal response. It would be a short term victory but trump would fill in with some total sycophant behind him.

To medical groups, and foreign organizations- he’s figuring ways around his gag rules.

Apparently he can’t speak to the press, but he can meet and speak to other doctors and health care groups, and answer their scientific questions, because he did just this past week and it was broadcast.

I cannot imagine a more nightmarish admin from a scientist's perspective. He should hang on till Dec.

Besides who knows what Trump would replace him with...
Trump thinks science is an anti-Trump conspiracy.
