How to Stop the GOP from Stealing the White House

By Thom Hartmann, The Thom Hartmann Program | Op-Ed
As an American citizen, you do not have the right to vote for the President of the United States.

Just ask the five right-wingers of the Supreme Court in 2000, who decided the infamous Bush v. Gore case.

In their decision, Justices Kennedy, O’Connor, Rehnquist, Scalia and Thomas said, right out loud in front of God and everybody, that, “the individual citizen has no federal constitutional right to vote for electors for the President of the United States…”

So how did that happen?...

You're telling me that the way to stop Republican State Governments from stealing Electoral Votes is to lobby for NPV resolutions...which would need to be passed by Republican State Governments.

And if you can get States to do this, why something as sloppy as an NPV pledge, as opposed to a straight Constitutional Amendment (equally unlikely at this point)

The only way to "stop the GOP" is to focus on gaining control of the State Legislatures and Governorships so that Electoral Reform is possible.
