In the late 1970's, pushing my son in a stroller, I joined an anti-war march....that was the first time of many.

(10,495 posts)instead of us!!!! We need to eliminate corporate bribery of our government. A prime example is the background checks to by a gun. They have 91% support from the people on this, but our elected representatives are having issues crossing the NRA and their whopping 4 million members. I am tired of being F**ked over in favor of BP, GE, Wall Street... None of them pay taxes or go to jail for wrongdoing. I want that gig!

Oh, yes, then they're in a position to make sure that government doesn't intrude on their constituents' lives, except those who have different, "liberal" beliefs. As a retired educator, a native of Pennsylvania and resident again for the last twenty-five years, I've truly began to believe that this state IS entirely another world between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia; north central, Penn State area, possibly excluded. I've actually had otherwise kind and generous friends who are sure that Obama and today's Democrats are actively persecuting Christians and conservatives. "Clinging to guns and religion" was truly a gaffe on President Obama's part. Sadly it's true of many of the less educated and the "changing times bewildered " of many of this state's residents. That old time religion is keeping them grounded. Anti-education conservative policies are then easily swallowed.
