I know people in the past have talked about splitting Northern California with Southern California, but it will never happen. California is strong because it is one state, and because we have had decent Democratic leadership of late.

Is it lost on everybody that if they get their 51st state, that will be two more 100% Republican senators, representing only a couple of thousand people?

(ETA) I guess they do touch on it very gently at the end, but it really needs to be pointed out that this is another Free State Project style attempt to game the system.

that's probably what many of these people want in the first place. Coincidentally, those are mainly red counties that want to secede.

We're in the minority in Sacramento (not to mention our rural outback!), so we want out! When Sacto turns red again, we may reconsider. For now, we're gonna train our kid militia with wooden guns and deafen them with our modern cannons.

Seein' those kids with their wooden long rifles made me think of the footage of Japanese civilians training for the anticipated invasion just before the nukes were loosed.

Honestly, he said they offer nothing to the state of California and described them as "poor." How closed -minded can you get. It is beautiful country up there and in fact there is tourism and the other economies mentioned by one of the residents.

While secession violates the Constitution, we need to understand why they feel under represented. We fought a civil war to make sure no state secedes and to end slavery but we must provide support to rural counties.

I teach in South LA and i could make negative comments about the crime, gangs and other negative aspects of life. So Willie Brown is way off base here.

and crying about the fact that they can't have everything the way they want, aren't offering anything I want. As far as the country goes they didn't make it beautiful, and they would most likely strip it clean to make a quick buck. Would tourists really flock to an area with a well armed militia telling people to get off their land?
