Related: About this forumThom Hartmann: Are Your Taxes Paying For CEO Bonuses?
Sarah Anderson, Global Economy Project-Institute for Policy Studies, joins Thom Hartmann. Walmart already costs American taxpayers millions of dollars each year thanks to its extremely low wages and lack of healthcare benefits for its employees. So why are WalMart executives being allowed to take even more money out of the pockets of the American taxpayers?

I think that a viewer-supported TV station is starting: https://www.freespeech.org/
I believe I heard Hartmann say on KPFK that he would be appearing on the Freespeech TV.
I understand your objection to RT, but the corporate media is unwilling to give a voice to ideas that differ with the usual, blatantly stupid corporate propaganda, so what are intelligent viewers and listeners to do?
We all got conned into the Iraq War because most of our American media was sleeping, snoring the Bush administration's propaganda instead of looking for obvious falsehoods and lies -- falsehoods such as that Niger was selling nuclear materials to Iraq, lies like those told by the supposed informant from Iraq who was actually simply telling big whoppers.
I do not trust most of the American media any more than I trust RT.
We all have to be skeptical and think for ourselves. The media is for the most part not to be trusted.

(84,711 posts)"manipulated minds" we posters here on DU and that we have no "free thought" and ability to discriminate in our reading.
The more folks try to clue them in...they just think somehow many DU'ers are clueless fools or something.
And, thanks for pointing out Thom Hartmann's other venues for his shows.
Plus, I find that RT's Abby Martin tends to follow up on "Democracy Now" breaking news. So...unless "Democracy Now" and Amy Goodman are now on some unapproved list (the one many DU'ers seem to have that the rest of us don't have available to us it often sounds like "Book Burning/Banning Rhetoric from some quarters that seem to want to decide what is on reading lists that are approved and not approved without really ever revealing their "Full List" of what their judgement is that we are supposed to follow..when none of them are DU Amins.

On the other hand, some of the Americans so-called news is just as false, just as ridiculous, but because it is presented in a better American idiom, we don't recognize the falsity.
So I like to get news from a variety of sources. And DU provides that.

(84,711 posts)who seem to think that many of us are not as "enlightened in our reading" as they claim they are.
I'm always amazed at the "Book Burners" who throughout our history as a civilization try to control what people think and read as if that is a solution. Our US history has it's own dark past....most recently with Senator Joseph McCarthy, J. Edgar Hoover's FBI and what we currently live under with a Corporate Controlled Media.
We need to fight against the attack on "Freedom of Speech" wherever we find it. We should have the FREEDOM to DISCUSS even those whose opinions we disagree with rather than BAN their Speech.

If you think that lunatic Abby Martin is just an echo of Democracy Now (which is an insult to Democracy Now), then post more videos by Democracy Now and not by RT:

(1,903 posts)pseudo logic if the wages of workers rise it's more money out of our pocket for the goods... then CEO pay works the same way. Tax or no it comes out of our pocket only at least the workers earn it.
