Before I started him on his first Beethoven piece, I gave a little mini-lecture about Beethoven and what a wonderful composer he was.

When I had finished, there was a pause, and this little kid, maybe 9 or 10 years old looked up at me with his near-sighted stare and asked, "And was he very, very rich?"

Was he very, very rich?

That's what Obama wants to ask of college graduates.

Are you very, very rich.

If that is the measure of value of life in America, what kind of country are we living in?
