(3,982 posts)generally consider a smile differently. A forced smile is often seen as ingenuine and "slick". Not to mention that it appears Putin still has a sense of such days being "solomn" events, which we also used to do...
Not saying Obama's smile is not genuine, just saying this clip is more an indication of the west's ignorance than it is any reflection on Putin's mood.
Does anyone else kind of see it as being crass for the crowd to do this kind of thing on a solemn occasion? It seems a little bizarre.

(31 posts)I agree that it seems crass for the media to manipulate images like this when covering an event...especially a solemn occasion.
Seems like manipulative sensationalism on the media's part. I don't think either Obama or Putin would have been pleased by this.
The media are supposed to be journalists...not fabricators of their own stories.
