Former President Bill Clinton gave a touching, personal tribute to Angelou, telling the packed church: 'She had enough experiences to last five lifetimes.'
He said the last time he had seen Angelou was just a few weeks before her death, when they both attended a 50th anniversary ceremony in Boston of the signing of the Civil Rights Act.
He said: 'I went over and hugged her, and said "I can't believe you got yourself here". Maya told me: 'Just because I am wheelchair-bound, doesn't mean I don't get around.'
'That girl got around,' he added, to laughter from those at the ceremony.
