Related: About this forumIs This Woman a Criminal?
Should the DEA and Congress be allowed to arrest her, or to remove her children from her custody because she uses medical marijuana? She's not the only one in such a circumstance.
Congress - have you no shame?
Remove cannabis from the controlled substances act.

(28,784 posts)But we still have people who think anyone who talks about medical use of cannabis just wants to get high.
I'd like to see Congress do what it is elected to do, but I'd also like to see all drugs removed from oversight by the DEA and various agencies and put under a non-political, non-governmental board: The National Academy of Sciences.
I'm sick and tired of cannabis and drugs (cannabis is not a drug, it's a plant), being used as a way to score political points.
Did you see the recent Drug Policy Alliance report on the DEA? It's in the Drug Policy Forum here. They made the NAoS recommendation - and I agree. They're also working with MAPS, an organization doing research into the use of MDMA in therapeutic settings for veterans, rape victims and others with PTSD, major anxiety disorder, and treatment-resistance depression.
The govt. has set up a racket around the Controlled Substances Act.
Time to vastly defund the DEA. Time of close the Drug Czar's (Propaganda) Office. Time to treat drug use as a health issue, including drug abuse.
So, while I won't hold my breath, I am all for an executive action that would stop the drug war. It's gone on longer, costs trillions of dollars, and ruined as many lives as the mess that Bush got us into.

(34,648 posts)If this woman had money, this never would have happened. Drug laws target the poor and people get rich off of it. Every state need to put it on the ballot and force some changes through. This story just made me so mad, i have seen things like this plenty of times. Her husband should be ashamed and i am sad she married that ass after what happened to her, he should have been more, human i guess.

But I bet, before he couldn't have everything his way, he was as sweet as could be.

(28,784 posts)the first youtube comment with this video is an insult about her - asking why anyone had a child with her.

(212 posts)I'm in a similar situation. I have been taking hydrocodone legally for pain for 12 years. I want to start growing my own weed with high CBD but I'm afraid of the law.

(28,784 posts)The drug warriors know the American public is no longer behind them. The medical and scientific community is no longer behind them. LEAs are afraid they will lose funding - much of which is tied to the number of arrests they can make for marijuana possession.
So, yes, I wouldn't do anything like that - but I'm actually a really law abiding citizen anyway... I follow the speed limit, I recycle, I don't drink and drive (or drink much of anything, really), I vote, in every election... yeah, I'm such a criminal for supporting an end to the reefer madness.
When my kids were in elementary school, the school had a bazaar every spring before the school year was over. I've always loved to garden. So, I would start geraniums and sedum and other easily propagated plants indoors before the plant sale portion of the bazaar, and also dig up hostas and irises from my yard for the sale. One time an electrician was in my house and saw all my shelves with just simple florescent grow lights to start plants from cuttings. He said... growing marijuana? I laughed because the statement was so absurd. I hadn't used mj for the longest time, never thought about, unless someone brought it up and I said, "of course I think it should be decriminalized."
I don't start plants for the school sale anymore. My kids are long gone from elementary school. Dismantled my little indoor set up.
But if cannabis were legal to grow, I would definitely try it, just for curiosity as a gardner. But not while its considered more dangerous to grow cannabis than it is to manufacture meth.
