A comparistion and contrast between Mahatma Gandhi and Narendra Modi

This video is 52 minutes long and comes from the BBC. It should be watched as a warning for what Mr. Modi's elevation to India's prime minister portends for that nation.

Like a musical theme and variations. Same crap, different packaging, different particulars. Seems like Narendra Modi is the Koch Brothers' "brother from another mother". And people in modern India just blithely brush it off as human nature having changed with the times. Well, the Satyagraha that Gandhi practiced was never business as usual for the human race, but when it was practiced under his leadership and guidance, it worked miracles for the whole nation - rich and poor, Hindu and Muslim, etc... But the people interviewed were too blind to see it. Makes me sad, very sad! I'm sure that India's new corporate attitude will ultimately hurt their tourism, since so many tourists visit India for the spiritual inspiration and way of life; but when they see this crap and crass corporate commercialization, it will be a total turn off.

A lot of it has already been discredited. A british-born (UBCD) Indian seeing India through a British/Western perspective is not an accurate portrayal. Poor people are everywhere but no one asks are there less poor people now -- rather -- especially when it comes to India, poor people are flaunted by the media as almost a trademark.

India tried Gandhi/Nehru socialist economics and almost went bankrupt. It is the Indian entrepreneurs that saved India after the relaxation of archaic rules and regulations in 1992. Modern India has been elevated by the Indian scientists, technologists and entrepreneurs much like modern USA. Yet, it is not considered hypocritical to use double standards.

Also, Gandhi operated from 1915-1947 .... to expect a leader of today to act exactly like Gandhi would be grossly unfair. Does Obama behave like George Washington? Did Clinton operate like Ben Franklin?
