In 2013 President Putin stated “Certainly the channel is funded by the government, so it cannot help but reflect the Russian government’s official position”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RT_(TV_network)

So let's be clear this is a news outlet that likely is here on DU to help promote the Russian position.

Meanwhile, even in Eastern Ukraine there is likely a super majority that want a free Ukraine (for now), but what is happening is many are migrating West because they fear for their lives, and can't even vote safely.

How does that translate to fear of not being able to vote?

And ethnic Russians are not going to be migrating to Lvov. That is just a hillarious proposition (and from one who obviously does not talk to many, if any Russians (emigrants, etc).

If someone flees the east they may go toward Kyiv (lost in a crowd and most of Kyiv still speaks Russian), or they will go someplace like Odessa.

They are also fleeing to Russia. Many of the old "Soviet" beach resorts in Crimea are filling with refugees (the government there is housing them in facilities and tents as they don't have housing for them all).

But you are free to believe the line out of Kiev.

I just helped a friend pay for an apartment who moved from Donetsk to Kiev. I have another friend in Luhansk that is also considering fleeing. They are both Russian speakers and support the Kiev government, as do most in the East despite the RT propaganda.

I have to wonder about the activity levels of RT here on DU. Something isn't adding up.

I could certainly believe you may know two people who would be as you imply but you can't possibly make that claim about the majority, especially given that those areas were very strongly party of regions.

There are though gallop polls that were taken that indicate the opposite. If you really are interested I can find them and post them.

The presidential vote alone shows that the narrative of the Maidan parties representing the majority was pure fiction. All the parties involved were soundly beaten, there wasn't even a runoff required. Before you say the same of party of regions, it is impossible to determine, but history shows they would have had a strong showing, if not for boycott by many and if the party as an organization had not been severely disabled by persecution, burning buildings, threatened families, and candidates not beaten.

I don't know if you saw Vice News cover several polling places that were shut down by rebels. People literally could not vote. Why would they do this if they thought voting would help them prevail? The logic is flawed. I assume RT didn't cover this.

A majority voted for the current President of Ukraine. I said nothing about Maiden.

side. Check out "Words Apart" with Oksana Boyko on RT. Not an advertisement, you will find at a list of guests who offer a diplomatic world view that challenges RT and President Putin. Not all guests are equal, keep an open mind and practice your most loved teacher's guide to critical thinking.

to keep the crowd from getting worse that it was by by using a word. I would much rather see that then the crowd getting worked up and storming the embassy. I do not know why some would alert, I too think it is funny how the side that has been fomenting real live violence gets all worked up over a word.

The correspondent was live but the "diplomat's" comment was recorded. They could've easily succeeded in not covering this.
If RT is such a shameless propaganda outfit, it would've been simple to pretend the comment never happened.

Better stick with General Electric/Comcast TV, where you are sure to get the unvarnished truth.

That profoundly stupid looking individual is the top diplomat of our puppet government in Kiev. And no, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister was not elected but rather was simply appointed by our lackeys in the "interim government."
