Still makes me smile and cry..

So much going on in this World today:

So much has changed in my Life. Not young anymore. Nothing is as it was supposed to be..

I needed something to put a smile on my face today.. I decided to share.. Lost my dear Wife just months ago and was feeling lonely..
This takes me way back to a place where I was so young and believed in Dragons..
Hope this makes you smile and sing along as well..

He]s pre-school and dressed as a dragon in a costume my daughter sewed and my son-in-law crafted for Halloween. The tune is wonderful.

They tried to tell us, at the end of that song, though. He is still out there, waiting.

This song is so sweet, although people say it's about smoking pot, I feel free to listen to it in my way of hearing.

After the song's initial success, speculation arose — as early as a 1964 article in Newsweek — that the song contained veiled references to smoking marijuana.[5] The word "paper" in the name of Puff's human friend (Jackie Paper) was said to be a reference to rolling papers, and the word "dragon" was interpreted as "draggin'," i.e. inhaling smoke; similarly, the name "Puff" was alleged to be a reference to taking a "puff" on a joint. The supposition was claimed to be common knowledge in a letter by a member of the public to The New York Times in 1984.[6]

The authors of the song have repeatedly rejected this urban legend and have strongly and consistently denied that they intended any references to drug use

I don't believe it was ever about marijuana. I think some people would try to make any song from the sixties or seventies about drugs or sex if they could. (not you)

I believe PP&M when they say it wasn't, and it doesn't sound like it to me either. I mean, just listen to the words.

I was in college when this BS hit the fan, and a good friend of mine went to see them in concert shortly after the Newsweek article came out. When Peter (I think) introduced this song, he commented on the article, siting the same lyrics mentioned in the article. He said that you can interpret a lot of lyrics that way if you really tried. They then launched into The Star Spangled Banner, and basically showed how it was one long drug reference, starting with "Oh say can you see..." See? You mean "C"? Because that can stand for "cocaine". Can't remember all the references, but as you can well imagine, my friend said they rocked the house.

I wish they were still singing new songs with the same flavor of the old songs. I have a tape from a live concert and need to get it put on disc somehow. It has some of my favorite songs of theirs on it.

Dreamsmoker, I'm really sorry to hear about your loss. I know it will and does get easier over time, but it can sure take a hell of a long time.

Definitely brought tears to my eyes, but this song always did. Judging from the age range in that audience, it's good to know that Puff has found more playmates.
So very sorry for your loss. I lost my husband four years ago, and while nothing will ever be the same, it does get better with time. You will smile and laugh again. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other...
