We could have continued to throw more trillions at it, occupy Iraq indefinitely while tying up a disproportionate share of our military preparedness, and as before bribe warlords to side with us whenever a surge was deemed appropriate. Forever, but at what cost? One thing we could never do was withdraw and expect Sunnis, Shia, and Kurds to unify in national solidarity, not when they have been warring for hundreds of years. McCain and others live in a fools paradise. And blaming another for their earlier miscalculation is worse than lying.

...is crashing 5 US military aircraft (only one crash of which was actually related to being in the military), and of surviving them all. Which I suppose would be considered ''good luck'' from his perspective.

- Although we have yet to be reimbursed for the planes......

Lucky Sperm club. If not for being the son and grandon of Admirals it's doubtful that he would ever have been admitted to Annapolis, much less getting his wings after such a lackluster performance there. Crashing 5 planes is just another chapter in Good Luck Johnny's life story.
