We already know Justin Timberlake is awesome for negotiating a fair union contract with the dancers on his 20/20 Experience World Tour—the first touring contract of its kind for SAG-AFTRA tour dancers—but now Dancers' Alliance informs us Michael Jackson's new music video with Timberlake, "Love Never Felt so Good," features dancers covered by a union contract.

The video was produced under a union contract covering all dancers thanks to a recent successful organizing drive in the music video industry by SAG-AFTRA dancers.

Members of the Dancers’ Alliance know that all performers benefit when dancers work together and collectively bargain for fair pay and benefits in the music industry.

It's older than Elvis. Ask anyone to visualize a banjo player; 99% will imagine a white person. arcane1 Jun 2014 #2
This is hugely important for dancers, who are my favorite of peoples, and who are often worked hard Bluenorthwest Jun 2014 #3

We all know how much you like MJ. Hell, you got famousd by ripping off his style and moves, in the great tradition of stealing Afro-American music that has been the way since your fellow Memphis resident, Elvis. All the same, it says a lot that you only collaborate with him now that he is dead, and that you did not even attend the funeral. That is ok, from Barack Obama to Madonna to you, a lot of people that got rich thanks to Mj avoided him because of what he was accused, but never convicted of.

Yeah, my comments seem nasty, but it is sad that the people who are put in early graves by the music biz are suddenly warmly embraced when dead. That could be said of everyone from Kurt Cobain , to Tupac, to even poor old Elvis himself. But we know that the nominally talented like you will survive.

Yes, thanks for the union dancers, but frankly, you do not deserve a medal for doing what should have been done.

Hell, I don't think I've ever seen a black person play a banjo.

without proper compensation. Timberlake is ok by me for many reasons, he's a good guy and Michael Jackson would be happy about anything that cares for and honors dancers. Because dance is life and a dancer's dance life is short, it is essential that the industry Unionizes every last dance step in every last medium.
Thanks for sharing this Steve, this counts as good news about good people.
