Charlie Rose's Interview with Dick Cheney about Iraq Situation

Charlie really pushes back against the Obama bashing rhetoric in this interview. After Cheney laid the blame for all the problems in the Middle East at Obama's feet, Charlie pressed him for what HE would do differently in Iraq now. Answer - nothing. As Charlie pointed out, he and Obama are on the same page.

Charlie got a similar result when he pushed past McCain's Obama-bashing on the situation in the Ukraine. This is a good tactic to deconstruct their broad stroked condemnations. McCain, when pressed about what he would do in Ukraine had nothing.

1. I still do not understand why people are interviewing him.

By putting him on talk shows you are lending credibility to him. He should be shunned and forced to go away.

after getting us into Iraq he should be permitted to have any voice in this matter.
Apparently he wrote an op-ed or something which Charlie mentions at the top of the show.

But I would like to say this much...while there is rarely much distance between our two parties regarding foreign affairs (usually more argument of how to go about it rather than on the overall plan), I doubt that Obama would have invaded Iraq given the same information the Bush Administration had. But Hillary certainly signed on.

He always puts these right wing fanatics on his show and is generally deferential to them. Cheney should have ZERO credibility given the disaster he helped create in Iraq and the lies he told to bring it about. He doesn't deserve to be a guest on any serious policy show. Cheney should be a guest at The Hague.

In the build up to the Iraq invasion, Rose's show was a parade of right wing, pro war ideologues. Rose, for the most part, never really challenged any of them. He even had the bumbling Henry Kissinger on the show giving his blessing to the invasion.

By having people like Cheney on his show, Rose gives them a relevance they never deserved and none of the opprobrium the do deserve.

7. Yes, but it may all come down to who owns the airwaves, the newspapers, etc.

Also when there is an attempt to silence any group you immediately run into prickly issues of rights and
democratic principles.
No easy answers.
Perhaps it is best to meet them on their own turf and call them out. I notice in this video forum that there is a
video of Kopple who went to Fox and accepted an interview with O'Reilly. Is that wise? It just seems like a
crowd pleasing joust and like a sports team, people enjoy routing for their favorites.

government. He is a traitor and responsible for the killing of thousands of people along with George W. Bush and his crime family. I guess if it bleeds it leads and when it comes to news interviewing a bloody killer is right down the media's alley.
