Papantonio: Conservative Media Creating Psychopaths

The language used by the shooters in some of the recent mass murders in this country is identical to language used by both Tea Party members of Congress, and pundits from conservative media. There is no question that their rhetoric is inspiring some of these horrible tragedies.

Ring of Fire's Mike Papantonio and blogger/author Chauncey DeVega explain what’s happening.

Notice none of this craziness started amping up (yeah, it was always there, sort of simmering below the surface) and becoming virulently inflamed until they realized there's a black guy in "their" Oval Office and - GASP!!!!!! Clutch those pearls!!!! I'm gonna faint!!!! - he ISN'T the JANITOR!!!!! Oh the horror!!!

It increased by ridiculous proportions as soon as Barack Obama took office, so much so that in the first few months, the Department of Homeland Security identified tons of new radical groups in this country, spreading like poison oak up your legs after you took a nice long hike in the wilderness while wearing short shorts. And they whined and complained and threw temper fits and Janet Napolitano retracted it! SHIT!!!! Dumb-ass response! She should have responded with a dignified, formalized "IS, TOO!!!! Tough if you don't like it!!!! That's how it IS, now, and it's all on YOUR side, so just GET OVER it!!!!" That report turned out to be as spot-on as though it were laser-guided.

I say we deal with them as a mom would deal with a rabble of spoiled, undisciplined, whiny, tantrum-throwing, poorly-brought-up, entitlement-intoxicated five-year-olds. Because that's what they are. I'm a mom and I've seen more than my share of that. What does one do? If they can't play with their toys nicely and peaceably, and share and get along, then those toys get taken away from them. If they refuse to behave and get along with others, they're put on a time-out, seated in the corner facing the wall, or sent to their rooms, or grounded for the weekend, or they get their allowance and TV time and game time restricted or withheld. Too bad we can't find some remedial Romper Room for these buttheads.

And you're so spot-on, Mr. Bill, about the prospects of a woman winning her way into the Oval Office (and GASP!!!!!! She ISN'T the cleaning lady!!!!!!). The one I'm thinking about is Anglo. Won't make any difference to most of these backwards-leaning, Bronze-Age-mentality miscreants. They'll try to shit all over her, too, Sore Losermen that they are. I think you're 100% correct - the only acceptable President to this bunch is a middle-aged or older white male (preferably one packin' heat - and maybe getting ready to shoot one of their friends in the face. Hey, it was okay with them when the last "de-facto" one did it).

No one took Propaganda minister Dr Gobbles serious - when he used his propaganda to make Hitler greater than life - and his movement a movement that should make Germany whole again - and to fight off the unjust that the Versailles-tractat gave Germany when it lost WW1 in 1918...

But sure took Propaganda Minister Gobbles when he in fast succession silenced the opposition - and made the surviving newspapers and others a part of the Reich Ministry for propaganda - and in a few year made Hitler the ultimate leader of Germany - and where germans - might as well was under the spell of nazi propaganda for the next 12 year.... It was not until the devastating fall in 1945, the germans discovered how fooled they was - and the horrible crimes what was made in their name - even though many was in the know about what happened..

Fox news -and the rest of the far-right eco chamber is more or less the same without any Gobbles to direct their forces and resources - hopefully the US will never experience something that evil as Gobbles - even if they do have many minions in their mist....

But it is sad to se how the election of a black man to the white house, can give people that much hate - hate that is killing people left right and center - from people who is brainwashed to believe what ever they are being told by the propaganda systems like Fox news...

If the US government really wanted to take away the freedom - and the guns they have - I doubt they would have been able to resist to long before they had to give up the fight - as the US army alone have enough weapons to quell most shallenges to its autority if it want it...

"The really dangerous American fascist... is the man who wants to do in the United States in an American way what Hitler did in Germany in a Prussian way. The American fascist would prefer not to use violence.

His method is to poison the channels of public information. With a fascist the problem is never how best to present the truth to the public but how best to use the news to deceive the public into giving the fascist and his group more money or more power...

They claim to be super-patriots, but they would destroy every liberty guaranteed by the Constitution. They demand free enterprise, but are the spokesmen for monopoly and vested interest.

Their final objective, toward which all their deceit is directed, is to capture political power so that, using the power of the state and the power of the market simultaneously, they may keep the common man in eternal subjection."

~ U.S. Vice President Henry A. Wallace, quoted in the New York Times, April 9, 1944

That was 70 years ago.

And the violence is ramping up, so they are getting close to their goals. They've done what they have done, not so much in the name of government which had many measures to keep them down, but by worming their way up from the corporations to hold sway over resources, media and the American mind.

We're now herded that direction by the Libertarian viewpoints as explained in these pieces:

How Freedom Became Tyranny

Rightwing libertarians have turned “freedom” into an excuse for greed and exploitation.

George Monbiot - December 19, 2011

Freedom: who could object? Yet this word is now used to justify a thousand forms of exploitation. Throughout the rightwing press and blogosphere, among thinktanks and governments, the word excuses every assault on the lives of the poor, every form of inequality and intrusion to which the 1% subject us. How did libertarianism, once a noble impulse, become synonymous with injustice?

In the name of freedom – freedom from regulation – the banks were permitted to wreck the economy. In the name of freedom, taxes for the super-rich are cut. In the name of freedom, companies lobby to drop the minimum wage and raise working hours. In the same cause, US insurers lobby Congress to thwart effective public healthcare; the government rips up our planning laws; big business trashes the biosphere. This is the freedom of the powerful to exploit the weak, the rich to exploit the poor.

Right-wing libertarianism recognises few legitimate constraints on the power to act, regardless of the impact on the lives of others. In the UK it is forcefully promoted by groups like the TaxPayers’ Alliance, the Adam Smith Institute, the Institute of Economic Affairs and Policy Exchange. Their conception of freedom looks to me like nothing but a justification for greed.

So why have we been been so slow to challenge this concept of liberty? I believe that one of the reasons is as follows. The great political conflict of our age – between neocons and the millionaires and corporations they support on one side and social justice campaigners and environmentalists on the other – has been mischaracterised as a clash between negative and positive freedoms.

More at the link about the meaning of positive and negative freedoms and how the word is being used against us:

They have gotten just about every thing they have on their list, playing the CT, Tea, GOP and the public who don't understand what the world the Koch brothers are forcing on us to accept this. Note that Social Security and the Post Office are on the list:

BERNIE SANDERS Uncovers 1980 Koch Agenda- "What Do the Koch Brothers Want?"

What else do the Koch brothers want?

In 1980, David Koch ran as the Libertarian Party’s vice-presidential candidate in 1980.

Let’s take a look at the 1980 Libertarian Party platform.

Here are just a few excerpts of the Libertarian Party platform that David Koch ran on in 1980:

“We urge the repeal of federal campaign finance laws, and the immediate abolition of the despotic Federal Election Commission.”

“We favor the abolition of Medicare and Medicaid programs.”

“We oppose any compulsory insurance or tax-supported plan to provide health services, including those which finance abortion services.”

“We also favor the deregulation of the medical insurance industry.”

“We favor the repeal of the fraudulent, virtually bankrupt, and increasingly oppressive Social Security system. Pending that repeal, participation in Social Security should be made voluntary.”

“We propose the abolition of the governmental Postal Service. The present system, in addition to being inefficient, encourages governmental surveillance of private correspondence. Pending abolition, we call for an end to the monopoly system and for allowing free competition in all aspects of postal service.”

“We oppose all personal and corporate income taxation, including capital gains taxes.”

“We support the eventual repeal of all taxation.”

“As an interim measure, all criminal and civil sanctions against tax evasion should be terminated immediately.”

“We support repeal of all law which impede the ability of any person to find employment, such as minimum wage laws.”

“We advocate the complete separation of education and State. Government schools lead to the indoctrination of children and interfere with the free choice of individuals. Government ownership, operation, regulation, and subsidy of schools and colleges should be ended.”

“We condemn compulsory education laws … and we call for the immediate repeal of such laws.”

“We support the repeal of all taxes on the income or property of private schools, whether profit or non-profit.”

“We support the abolition of the Environmental Protection Agency.”

“We support abolition of the Department of Energy.”

“We call for the dissolution of all government agencies concerned with transportation, including the Department of Transportation.”

“We demand the return of America's railroad system to private ownership. We call for the privatization of the public roads and national highway system.”

“We specifically oppose laws requiring an individual to buy or use so-called "self-protection" equipment such as safety belts, air bags, or crash helmets.”

“We advocate the abolition of the Federal Aviation Administration.”

“We advocate the abolition of the Food and Drug Administration.”

“We support an end to all subsidies for child-bearing built into our present laws, including all welfare plans and the provision of tax-supported services for children.”

“We oppose all government welfare, relief projects, and ‘aid to the poor’ programs. All these government programs are privacy-invading, paternalistic, demeaning, and inefficient. The proper source of help for such persons is the voluntary efforts of private groups and individuals.”

“We call for the privatization of the inland waterways, and of the distribution system that brings water to industry, agriculture and households.”

“We call for the repeal of the Occupational Safety and Health Act.”

“We call for the abolition of the Consumer Product Safety Commission.”

“We support the repeal of all state usury laws.”

In other words, the agenda of the Koch brothers is not only to defund Obamacare. The agenda of the Koch brothers is to repeal every major piece of legislation that has been signed into law over the past 80 years that has protected the middle class, the elderly, the children, the sick, and the most vulnerable in this country...

Tomorrow it will be Social Security, ending Medicare as we know it, repealing the minimum wage. It seems to me that the Koch brothers will not be content until they get everything they believe they are entitled to.

Our great nation can no longer be hijacked by right-wing billionaires like the Koch brothers.

For the sake of our children and our grandchildren, for the sake of our economy, we have got to let democracy prevail.

Diclotican, we've heard this for years, Americans have come to believe this is how it has to be.

Some have spoken out but been forced out of the spotlight for it:

Van Jones: Protecting Society from Corporate 'Tyranny'

Van Jones, Founding President of Rebuild the Dream, criticizes the influence corporations and special interests have on our political system. Jones argues that "the Tea Party is correct, our liberties are under threat," but their "negative" rhetoric is misguided.

to Lars77:

As much a threat as Germany was to the world... Think of us if we go all the way. Obama is determined to keep us off the path that Bush took us on... And then some... But we still have more destructive capacity than anyone else, AFAIK.

Diclotican, what if America were to be unleashed, through these entities with their ideologies upon the entire world? Are we too late, is this system out of our hands now?

One more thing... Sorry this is so long, just read it at your leisure:

I know there was a problem with investing public pension funds some time back. So it's not impossible Norway will be confronted by something similar, with the loss of unity.

Many and scary things indeed - that have came to some fruition - as the neo-conservatives - the libertarians - and not to say the tea-party's really seen to have grasped most of the public airwaves - and poisoned most of the community to a degree I have yet to understand... I'm maybe naive - as I do believe, and hope that enough people in the US is able to do the impossible - look true the poison they are served - and to do the right thing - who is to fight back - take back the public airwaves - and to crush the evil who is in your midst - the world The Koch Brothers - and the extreme right wingers would love to have - is a country - and a world where a few masters is to rule as they see fit - as they did back in the middle ages... where barons, and their knights could rule with impunity - and where everyone who was not part of the elite - or had solid backing from the elite in one way or another was in danger of being plundered - or murdered as the elite was seeing it to be the best way to "sort out trouble"...

To repeal social security - ending medicare - ACA to destroy all the public fabric who have glued the US to what it have become - a great nations who the rest of the world - at least until Jr got into office in fact admired - and loved and cared for... Most people was terrified about what happened 11 sept 2001 - most people was saddened about what happened that day - and then it looked like the US got off the rail they had been on - and collective got into a frenzy of anger and being afraid - and it doesn't stooped for the next 8 year to be honest.... And then a black man was elected president - something that really got the conservatives angry - and well the rest is history as they says - the conservative movement have been containing to be more and more and more extreme - even to the brink of open revolt against a lawfully elected president... I have never seen anything like this - if it had been in most european nations - the army would have been in full blow to crush it - as the experiences from the years between WW1 and WW2 still is deadly serious known in most of the continent - at least the Western part of Europe - would have sent in the army to crush anything like this long before it have been like it is today... As the extremist really is about - is treating to do a revolution against a lawfully elected president... President Barack H Obama si lawfully elected as the President - even if the extremist of the right still is seeing him as a unlawfully elected president - and they HATE him because he was not just elected once - but twice and is still seen as better than the pressor Bush jr - who was a terrible President - and who ruined the country more than even the worst enemies of the country would be able to dream about....

Norway did have some problems with our public pensions founds some time back - as some of the invest our "smart" economical masters ended up to be not that smart as the stock tanked greatly - and in a few hours we lost a lot of money who was ours on paper... But for some reasons it was rising again - and for the most part our pension founds is on track - and fulled up with a lot of money - even though in the new climate the conservatives have made possible - they claim it to be a danger of ending rather unfriendly - as they claim to many is on one form or another of public economical help... Specially if the conservatives plan of cutting in the tax base will go true the parliament - it could end in some cutback in our public founded pension plans - not to say in our rather well founded welfare systems... Hopefully the conservatives is not able to do to much damage the next 3 years - My guess is that the conservatives would not survive to the next election - and in the tradition of a parliamentarian system - the largest opposition party have to make a new government - and that is the labor party (AP).... And to be honest - i trust our labour party more then our conservatives when it comes to economical responsiblities.... Specially as our Conservatives - have the Progress Party as member of the government... It scare the hell out of me - thinking about how much damage the progress party can do in government - and how long it will take to mind the worst damage - and to rebuild the community after that train wreck

If Norway was to end our rather well founded welfare system - I think the old "enemy" called radicalism would do a comeback - as it was one of the most important reasons Norway was building the public well fare system - the fear of an violent revolution against the power to be - and it was a bloody serious case in the years between the wars - about the possibility of a revolution from the left - all until april 9th 1940 it was a danger no conservative could be without the fear or the labour party going strictly to the left - and do a revolution...

It seems to me that psychopaths are able to make evil plans on their own but the people influenced by the right-wing hate media are just zombies who will do psychopathic things. The psychopaths I've known have been VERY clever, scheming, and sadistic, getting pleasure from hurting people; they can make elaborate long-range plans. The hate media zombies I've known don't seem to be capable of any original thought, good or evil, and don't seem to derive pleasure from anything. Also, real psychopaths can seem like your best friend but the hate zombies I've known cannot hide their anger and hatred of people who don't agree with them.

I guess it might be like the difference between Charles Manson and a brainwashed follower.

Yearning for those "second-amendment remedies" that their pal sharron angle talked about, not too terribly long ago.

They can also accurately be called menaces to society. And domestic terrorists.

They've got the perfect formula.

* Take advantage of the jackoffs that "don't like the black guy in the white house"
* Stir up the same old assholes who whined and bitched all throughout the Clinton years.
* Payola the media to keep peddling the RW garbage.
* Take advantage of the frustrated who lost work during the tail end of the Bush years.
* If RW media starts losing advertising revenue, special interest will take up the slack.
* Then pile in the regular old Republican voters who've been around for decades.

And it's not "since the first few months of Obama's first term."

It happened not even a week or so after Obama was inaugurated in 2009 with Limbaugh's "I hope he fails!"

After that, it's been a circus ever since.

His basic message is like the late great George Carlin used to say - as in don't delude yourself, you are owned, we're run by a big effing club and none of us in in it.

Some of us muddle through better than others but all for a tiny sliver of the pie.

Vote masses, vote. There are more of us than them but we need to show up and vote.
