The debate is raging for those who are paying attention in Ukraine and it shows on this excellent Crossfire segment.

(111,174 posts)at the end of the 3 big stories that was occasionally this scrappy. It was wonderful. Then the Vietnam War ended and so did all controversy, I guess, since mergers and acquisitions across all news media started to shut down anything but the conservative drumbeat.
Now I never bother tuning in to national news. It's worthless infotainment.

(18,998 posts)I don't watch TV at all...so really I am not qualified to say they don't cover it, but it is a pretty good guess that they don't
But I remember when 60 minutes used to be a much watch for me.

(2,060 posts)really don't have a news source anymore. Seems like everything is simply made up. We are inching toward a banana republic.

(8,812 posts)I'm really glad I watched it.
But I didn't think the debate was "on fire."
I find the tendency to oversell things in order to attract eyeballs to be both tedious and worrisome.
Have we reached a point where anything without fireworks is considered a dud?

(9,688 posts)Nuland, hand-picked by Obama, praised to the skies by Kerry, is pure PNAC.
Not connected to "change", nor to "hope".
Just to more war and lies according as the identical template, and none of it possible without 100% cooperation from MSNBC, FOX, CNN, and what Michael Hastings (in _The Operators_) correctly labelled the MIC/MSM-complex.
Is DU part of it?
The denial of this and other blatant in-your-face facts by DUers (re. the Ukraine, Syria, Libya, ...) is perhaps the most depressing (and eye opening) things I've encountered in the past 10 yrs.

(2,060 posts)everything you said. Putin will eventually be forced to respond more forcefully. His request to the Federation to not allow troops into Kiev was surprising to me. Now Putin knows a lot more than any of us about what is going on; still, to me, it may have been a mistake. And the US media: pure comic book journalism.

(9,688 posts)PNAC is clearly "the bipartisan core" of the MIC.

(2,060 posts)in history--Alexander, Caligula, Hitler, Ivan--these people and their leader(s) will go down in flames as the common man rallies with his bricks and sticks and that more powerful that hasn't been taken from them by seemingly well-intentioned people. It's coming as sure as God made little green apples. I won't be standing on the sidelines watching or posting. I'll bet you won't be either.
