Related: About this forumIndia Women beat up attackers on bus in Haryana
Published on Nov 30, 2014
Two sisters have beaten up three men, who were allegedly sexually harassing them on a moving bus in the north Indian state of Haryana.
The men have been arrested and charged with assault, police said.
Friday's incident, recorded by a passenger on a mobile phone, went viral on social media over the weekend.
The fatal attack on a student in a bus in the capital Delhi in December 2012 had caused outrage and prompted India to introduce stringent anti-rape laws.
The latest incident happened in Haryana's Rohtak district, when the two students, aged 22 and 19, were on their way home in a passenger bus when three young men allegedly misbehaved with them.

(135,425 posts)1. I think these ladies need to start carrying canned goods in their pocketbooks.
A good big can of beans or tomatoes in an easy-swinging purse makes one helluva weapon. Great to clock a pushy, handsy abuser before things get out of hand.
The sad part is that NO ONE CAME TO THEIR AID. You don't have a link to your story, but here is the full video (your video is just still pictures that don't really express the full measure of what happened) :

The video(above) of two sisters thrashing three men who were allegedly harassing them in a bus went viral, leading the police to take prompt action against the accused.
Late Sunday night, the three men identified as Kuldeep, Mohit and Deepak were arrested.
The girls were returning from their Rohtak college to Sonepat in the Haryana Roadways bus on Friday when the men allegedly started harassing them. The girls objected at first, but the men reportedly kept passing lewd remarks. Then the sisters retaliated by beating them with their hands and belt, and attempted to push them out of the bus. They also tried calling the womens helpline 1091, but in vain.
One of the passengers captured the incident on a mobile phone. The video later went viral on TV and social networking websites.
Inspector Gajender Singh, Station House Officer at the Rohtak Sadar police station, said, A complaint was received on Friday evening and a case was registered against the three men. They are residents of Assan village.According to the sisters, the men had harassed them earlier too.
Mohit and Kuldeep were recently recruited into the Army and will proceed for training soon. The family of the accused were pressuring us to withdraw the case and reach a settlement, the father of the girls said.
The BJP had prominently mentioned the issue of womens security in its manifesto before the Vidhan Sabha elections polls in the state.
Haryana Chief Minister M Manohar Lal Khattar, after taking oath, had mentioned that the state government was contemplating deploying women police guards in buses to ensure safety of young girls. However, the proposal is yet to be implemented.

The good news is that the jerks were arrested.
I hope it happens more often that young women get the jump on their attackers. Traveling by twos can't hurt either. Train in the martial arts whenever possible. Or carry a stiletto. Neuter the mutt.
Yay! For My Sisters.
