Ol' Man Jenkins, The Sewer Dog Rescue

http://www.wtsp.com/story/news/local/2014/06/29/lakeland-dog-rescue/11703775/

Lakeland, Florida -- A dog stuck in a sewer in Lakeland was saved by a Facebook post!

Dusty Showers, an animal trapper, was contacted through Facebook when no one else could find a dog that was heard crying in a sewer. Dusty climbed down a drain that was 8 to 10 feet deep and full of roaches and broken glass to find the dog.

The chihuahua, believed to be about 10-years-old was probably in the sewer for an entire day. Showers is looking for a good home for the dog who he is calling Mr. Jenkins.

Please help me raise money so that we can continue to save dogs that have been cast off...all you need to do is watch this video and SHARE it... Thank you

Ol' Man Jenkins, otherwise known as OMJ us an old blind chihuahua that was dumped in a sewer and left for dead. Alina Berry Clark went to Facebook pleading for someone to help. After being told by authorities that they went out there and there was no dog in the sewer, professional humane wildlife trapper and nation breast cancer advocate Dusty Showers of Creepy Creatures was contacted.

After searching for over an hour and again being told by authorities there was no dog by Lakeland, Florida officials Dusty finally located an old man hole cover that was covered with grass and dirt. Dusty dropped down into the hole filled with roaches and broken glass and crawled about 75 yards...and out of the darkness Ol' Man Jenkins appeared.

Blind and decrepit, Ol' Man Jenkins was not only dumped in the sewer but also fell more than 6 feet in the darkness onto hard concrete in an area connecting the small sewer to the larger one.

Special thanks to Josh Shriber of Josh and the Jamtones for the music...my favorite song, Mamawaya. Check out more at: www.joshandthejamtones.com

Special Appearance by Pink. Toward the end, there is a pit bull licking Ol' Man Jenkins on the head. Pink (Formerly named Gangster was a bait dog and nearly dead when I found him in the bushes after being mauled. Pink has become my beast friend. My Chihuahua mix came from southern Georgia - right on the Florida border. Found her on Memorial Day in 2006 - ran out of the woods....I was on my bike and couldn't take her with me but I came back for her and she - after heart worm treatment and spaying - is still here as we speak.
