Lavish $20 million ‘White House’ in Iraq complete with marble floors — but beware ISIS neighbours

Developers in northern Iraq are building a replica of the White House on spec in Dream City, Erbil.

But the $20-million eastern mansion, based loosely on the U.S.’s president’s residence, includes some features not normally found in western homes — a lavish Turkish bath, for one, and a colourful marble floor.

The development, which would not look out of place in Dubai or Los Angeles, is one of several luxurious gated communities that have sprouted up in the capital of the Kurdish autonomous region.

The hope is they will attract well-heeled foreign investors, despite the looming presence of ISIS jihadists not that far away.
