Related: About this forumCarl's Jr Spits Out An Ad So Troubling, on Race, on Women....
It makes you wonder how tone-deaf a corporation can be -- so seriously tone deaf.
Posting because I think this place deserves to lose a bit of business for how it is objectifying women, making light of serious issues of migration/immigration, and frankly insulting the American public at large.
Count me out - and frankly I'll miss the food. But WTF? Seriously offensive.

(3,384 posts)American men are too fat or stupid or classless or clueless to have sex with a loving woman, they switch their desire to FOOD instead.
Physically out of shape Americans have replaced sex with food.
I've seen that for decades.

(3,384 posts)Our social priorities are WAY out of whack.
This advertisement is just the evidence of that.
Art reflects society. And yes, that commercial IS VERY artful because it made us think. That is what art does.
Will it last the test of time? I dunno, but fish tacos have been around for LONG time.

(53,947 posts)Imagine if you'd said that about the men of any other country.
"Mexican men are too..."
"Scottish men are too..."
"Nigerian men are too..."
The thing about sweeping statements of bigotry is that they are ugly in any color.

One of the biggest turnoffs is a lady glutinously eating dead animals. Makes me want to barf. People who eat meat really do smell terrible.

(9,688 posts)So things aren't going to be exactly equal for them w.r.t. bacon.
The problem with the ad isn't that it's trying to sell a bacon thickburger and that all people might not like bacon. The problem is that the ad isn't selling bacon, it's selling a soft-core barbie doll video of young women's asses mixed with ejaculatory imagery, like I guess this is the new normal for folks to view before watching the Saturday evening cartoons.

(2,212 posts)1. The hypothalamus, the portion of the brain in charge of our hunger, also controls our sex drive. The two urges are, not surprisingly, closely related, not only in terms of brain physiology but also in terms of how they work. So sex sells--especially when it comes to food.
2. None of the women in this commercial would look the way they do if they ate at Carl's on a regular basis. It's ridiculous to show them chowing down on 1,200 calorie, high-fat burgers. My guess is that they seldom eat anything other than salads and brown rice.

(5,521 posts)Worked generators in the Navy and noisy factories a few times. Even with ear protection, the very high frequencies and soft vowels are not there. Most ads on TV may as well be Martian to me. I have no trouble with volume. I can hear low volume my wife doesn't hear. We stream a lot of British shows. I have trouble with some of the accents, but they do speak clearly. Too many US women also speak in that raspy crackle voice. Very annoying.

(2,212 posts)If it's any consolation, you're not alone. I've been reading stories where doctors report they're seeing growing numbers of people in their 20s and 30s suffering hearing loss formerly not seen until people hit their 70s. The culprit? Listening to music on iPods and iPhones with their earbuds blasting away at high volume.

Personal life
Karcher was an active member of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. Carl and Margaret Karcher had 12 children.[3] Their son Jerome T. Karcher, who is a priest in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange, received the Man of Character Award from the Boy Scouts of America for founding Mercy House in Orange County for the homeless and those with AIDS.[8]
Political activities
Karcher was a lifelong supporter of Conservative causes.
Karcher was an early supporter of John Schmitz, a Republican and member of the John Birch Society, who represented Orange County in the California State Senate and later Congress.[9]
In 1978, he contributed US$1 million to California's anti-gay Proposition 6 initiative, also known as the Briggs Initiative.[5] He was the initiative's biggest financial supporter. The proposition was a ballot measure requiring the termination of all homosexuals and lesbians from employment in public schools, and was defeated by over one million votes.[10]

Okay, the more I watch it the more offensive I find it to be. Man, those beautiful women jumping up and down is really something, I mean I have to watch it again to see how offensive it is.
I've watch it at least ten times and I still can't believe how offensive it is. I'll never eat at Carl's Jr but I'll watch their offensive commercial a few more times because it's offensive. Did I mention how offensive it is?
Lighten up. I'm Mexican American and I didn't find it offensive.

(3,595 posts)especially the part where the one scantily clad player smacks the other on the buttocks. Who would ever want to do that? It may have homoerotic overtones. It is as bad as the football players doing the same thing after a touchdown.
