Morning Joe: Trump Knows He is Going to Lose

I don't wake up early enough to watch this show (i value my beauty sleep) so I may be behind the times but once again I am fascinated by clips from this show. Not so much what Dead Intern Joe has to say but his guests, who are often people that I respect and find to be extremely knowledgeable, have to say. From a day or two ago, coffee boy says that trump knows he is going to lose but more interestingly Jon Meacham says that even if Clinton runs as the anti-Trump and even with that bare basic "she is going to be President of the United States and have a fairly significant electoral margin". Mecham is more interested to see how much Gary Johnson gets. Not who will win but how much 3rd party candidates will get. Intriguing.....

I completely agree with Scarborough here. The whole thing was a PR stunt that got out of control.

Trump is all about promoting trump. This is the biggest stage ever. That much is simple.

What isn't so simple is what he thought the exit strategy would be. I guess he could have assumed at some point somebody like Christie or Jeb or even Cruz would win the nomination and Donald could take his billion dollars of free publicity home as a parting gift.

And then he started leading. At that point, if he wanted to be President (and was not actually insane) he would have started talking more "Presidentially". Instead he cranked up the incendiary rhetoric. That indicates either he is insane or else he wanted to push the party so hard they would have to offer him the deal of his life to step aside.

So there it is. I think he is insane. But to the extent that he has any functioning brain cells left, the only think his brain can process is "a deal".

The only real question I have is why the party did NOT offer such a deal. It would have been easy to get him out of the way. ALl it takes is money, and they can get plenty of that.

...even he doesn't entirely realize it. He is going to lose, its very obvious at this point unless you are a psycho klan member over at the free republic or a stressed out handwringer, but he is going to claim it was stolen from him. He will say, for the rest of his days, that he was the "rightful president" and that the media, the RNC, the democrats stole the election from him. Then he will build "The Trump Presidential Hotel" and put "Presidential Suites" all over his shithole hotels. In his feeble mind, he will have all of the glory of being president and none of the work or responsibility.

I don't know if he realizes that on a self-aware, cognitive level but deep down his mind is setting up an out for his narcissism. All of the talk about stealing the election and fraud is just an escape fantasy for himself. A small part of him knows that he is going to lose badly and that people hate him but that part of his mind is protecting the insecure child that dominates the rest of him.

And, in the perfect position to make a billion by throwing the fight after betting against himself.

he sells . from the tv shows and other shit.

but he also couldn't stand losing. especially not to jeb and others . it wasn't that he wanted to win as much as he didn't want to lose to them. it was about "i'm going to show them and beat them" . it was more about humiliating jeb, rubio etc than becoming president.

and it's kind of still on that point. he is what elizabeth warren has said about him so he isn't able to see things in a higher perspective. if someone says something negative about him he reacts and lashes out and in ugly ways.

he isn't upset that these things will hurt him in his chances of becoming president but he still sees it like a school kid angry at the other kid who said something mean about them.

different from most candidates who would be most concerned at how these things affect them in actually getting elected.

does anyone think if Trump had lost in the Primary he would be supporting the republican nominee ? he would have been far worse than Cruz has been . Cruz at worst is being a poor loser by not endorsing trump . but trump would have gone ugly. in fact trump who WON has been uglier with the accusations of assassination.
