The Bernie Revolution Evolves And Continues Fighting

His candidacy might be over, but the revolution that he started isn’t going away. That’s why this week, the Sanders organization is launching the “Our Revolution” campaign to continue to keep voters energized, active, and informed about the issues that effect our lives everyday. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins discusses this.

Sanders is running for Senate as an independent. As I understand it, and have believed since I joined in 2003, we support Democrats.

when he was endorsed by Senator Schumer, Senate Minority Leader Reid, and Democratic National Committee Chair Dean. After wining that election and subsequently he has caucused with the Democrats and has had a standing deal with them to vote with them on all procedural matters. I don't understand why you want to be so shitty to someone who has in many ways been one of the most dedicated Democratic Senators despite having his party designation as independent.

The ongoing hatred of Sen. Sanders by some of the sore winners here is truly ugly.

8. It is better he stay an Independent and keep his arrangement with the Demcrats.

He can push critical issues that the Democrats need to address but will often not for various reasons, and this will help energize people who would other wise be ambivalent to the whole process. It will also, in time, help push this party back on track. In the meantime, he caucuses with the Democrats so he is, in essence a vote for thier procedural matters. Very critical in a tight Senate.

O'Malley, either. So what? I would rather see up to date news about the Presidential race. There are plenty of things that Hillary is doing very well that is not being reported. Let's concentrate on that.

9. There have been some serious issues raised about the legal status of the campaign.

The group, called “Our Revolution,” will support progressive policy proposals and politicians across the country. According to its website, the group is operating as a 501(c)(4) organization, a tax status that will allow it to accept unlimited contributions without having to reveal its donors.

But its activities could be limited by campaign regulations because of its ties to Sanders, resulting in a highly unusual -- if not unprecedented -- political arrangement, according to Paul Ryan, the deputy executive director of the nonprofit Campaign Legal Center.

SNIP

As a sitting senator, Sanders can’t ask donors to contribute more than $2,700 each to a campaign committee per election, or more than $5,000 to a Super PAC, which can raise unlimited amounts of money but are barred from coordinating with campaigns.

Our Revolution's connection to a federal officeholder could require the group to disclose its donors and cap the amount of money it can accept from contributors under the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law, Ryan said.

Get used to it Bernie Bashers.

He is with Hillary for now. And I will follow Bernie's lead and support her now 100%, But if she does what many fear, and decides she doesn't need the Democratic liberal base or as Obama's former chief of staff called us... "fucking retards", and reneges on her promises crafted in their joint platform, she will do so at her own and her own party's and quite frankly the country's peril.

I know many conservative Democrats on here just wish he'd go away, but sorry, 46% of Democrats recognized the importance of his message. He won't betray them, or the country's future by just giving up the fight.

You are including Indie voters- many of whom strangely avoided voting for any down ticket progressive candidates. Hope they get their shot together.

You don't have to be a part of it.

In all political movements there are always those that are too timid, too skeptical, and in a juvenile manner, ridicule the ones that do the work for them. Until of course the battles are won, then its suddenly their idea all along.
