(127,330 posts)but growing up, I lived in a "twin" (as they call them in Philly, a/k/a "semi-detached" house sharing a wall) and one of the kids next door was a Beatles fanatic and my bedroom was adjacent to his. He used to blast them night after night including this song, which I believe was from the White Album, which he got right when it came out. The experience sortof turned me off from the group back then but I did for some reason like that song (I know there are a couple versions including this more uptempo one). It took me a long time to finally appreciate their music, but I did get to personally see his collection at the time when visiting his younger sister (rolling eyes along the way).

Happily I didnt have any close neighbors, would have hated to ruin The Beatles for anybody.
Great story thanks for posting!

(127,330 posts)It's funny but at a yard sale back in the early '70s, I ended up buying the 45 of that with Hey Jude on the one side and Revolution on the other. IIRC, the disc had a graphic of an Apple on it. Also picked up The Archies ("Sugar Sugar" ) 45 too!

Lennon was my favorite Beatle. Paul was second. But Lennon had a raw sexuality, bad boy image...and look at those cheeks, that smile.... okay, enough.
