She is invited often on these shows now. She has a charming personality and has interesting things to say.

Her book was excellent.

She really does have some important insights and has gotten a lot more comfortable since her initial interviews. And I agree about her book, she grew up in closer proximity to her father's family than most, seems like they were always expected to spend every occasion at "the house." I have the book on audio, listen to it in my car, and just today I sat in my car in the driveway, listening to her talking about when her father died. Her grandfather displayed no emotion from what she said (even when her aunt collapsed) and was still absolutely in charge, despite Mary and her Mom and brother. Heartbreaking.

Her aunts, uncles, cousins all have very different values than she has.

She is so down to earth and straightforward. So unlike a Trump. I wish we could see and hear more of her instead of her vile lying, grifting family members. I honestly feel sorry for her having to grow up with people like that. I hope she has a solid support network around her.

It sounds like her father, the eldest son, didn't fit in with what his autocratic father expected for him, and it actually ruined his life. From what she's said, he sounds like he was a decent guy, with hobbies and friends, unlike Donald - and that he genuinely loved his 2 kids. Though she grew up obligated to her grandfather, like all of them were, she sounds like she turned out all right - which can't have been easy. And she sounds quite intelligent and insightful as well, though it must have taken quite a bit for her to speak up and go public with all she knows.

he had a hard time coping with life. I feel really sorry for him. I read her book as well and I got the impression that to be a decent human being in the Trump family was to be a failure.

It was actually a very sad story and it's unfortunate that a sociopath like Donald came out to be know as the "successful" one. I am really glad she told the story of the family, because it explains a lot.

Which were unacceptable in that autocratic family. I had a doctor's appointment today (mammogram ) and I sat in the driveway listening since she was telling about what happened when her father died. It sure sounds like he was neglected in his illness and it was handled abysmally! The grandfather and Donald refused to grant his wishes even after death! Just awful. And the poor middle sister collapsed by his coffin and they ignored her until they finally hauled her out of the room. Mary and her brother are fortunate to be as normal as they are, sounds like everyone in that family was under the control of that monster of a grandfather - and it says a lot about Donald that he was the one who "fit in..."

Just so much tragedy all around, yet Donald did not perceive any of it because he was too self absorbed. It just makes me feel so awful for Mary and her brother to have had to go through their father's death in such a cold and heartless family. It must have been a nightmare for them.

Despite having come from such a wealthy family. It sounds like the only one that the grandfather spent any money on - and he had so much, but pinched pennies - was Donald. The poor eldest sister put herself through school and depended on her mother giving her the apartment laundromat change so she could feed herself and her son! At least Mary and her brother were allowed some distance, thanks to her parents, yet even after they were divorced her mother was still expected at his parents for family holidays!

And the mammogram was okay, I was just overdue for one, so I had to get up unbearably early for me and those are never comfortable.

Her book is a must-read, and helps us collectively break out of this abusive relationship, as she has done in her family. I am SO looking forward to the time I no longer hear him, see him, or am subject to his malevolent incompetence.

Back in 2016, I couldn't wait for the campaign to be over so I wouldn't have to see or hear him again! I have Mary Trump's book on audio (read by Mary, herself), have been listening to it in my car. Yesterday I had to go out and sat outside listening to the part where her father died and was horrified at the reactions and attitude of his father and Donald. All she had to say in the book must have been tough for her to relive, but also (as a psychologist) a way to work through it. And she did a great public service by sharing all she did. I agree that everyone should read it.

I suspect that she knows just the right buttons to push.
