The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsThe Sopranos is being repeated this week on HBO
starting at noon til midnight. I didn't mean to watch it again, but I am hooked all over again.
It is still as good as it was.
Technology has changed since the beginning.
They have big screen TVs, but no flat screen TVs.
The "internet" gets mentioned a few times.
They have cell phones, but no smartphones or even cameras. (when they went to their daughter's graduation they had a camera. nowadays there would be a hundred smartphones taking videos.
World Trade Centers were still there....
and now I miss Tony Soprano all over again (James Gandolfini)

(10,076 posts)If you have twitter there is an account "The Last Blockbuster" they don't post much, but it is usually pretty funny. Did you rack up any late fees, can't imagine how many DVDs that was!
Peace
I rented good old fashioned VHS tapes from Blockbuster.
Hahaha, that's funny. Amazing how time flies, now I'm trying to think when the heck dvds even came out.
Be kind, rewind.
Peace

(1,622 posts)...with the possible exception of "The Wire", followed by "Breaking Bad" (definitely the best opening scene ever!) and "Game of Thrones".
Just my .02....
IcyPeas
(21,747 posts)and I think it all started thanks to HBO and the Sopranos. It really was ground breaking at it's time.
Loved the Wire too and BB and GoT.
So many great actors too.

(1,622 posts)...because it took pure genius to get the American public to root for a sociopathic criminal. Without "The Sopranos" there would never have been a "Breaking Bad" or "Dexter"...

Nobody has any imagination anymore.

(27,648 posts)I bought the complete series, all six seasons, and play them frequently.
(Only character I just can't stand is Dr. Milfi)
