IRS scammers are still working hard through the shutdown

to lie and steal from Americans. Happy New Year. Enjoy the insults above.

In case you missed this when I posted it last year, the video below is very satisfying to watch Project Mayhem flood a scam call center with automated robocalls.

As a reminder, the IRS will never call you, never threaten you, and never ask for payment through gift cards. They send letters. If you are ever surprised to hear from the IRS(or Social Security, Medicare, VA, Federal Grants, Microsoft Technical Support, etc.), it's probably a scam.

Plenty of legit IRS employees and contractors have foreign accents/names but they will never call you.

Why do they do it?

“It’s very easy to scam Americans. They are very gullible.”

Call center scams from India.

It’s a dual opportunity scam.

They also scam many of the job seekers wanting to work for them.

they may delude themselves into believing they're fighting imperialism in developed countries but they scam their own people in their own countries too so that's just BS. Even when I was in Iceland, I got scam calls with spoofed Icelandic numbers with an Indian accent on the other end. So irritating.

I installed the Hiya app to help block these daily calls on my cell phone. Most everyone I know stopped answering calls from any unknown number.

Most do not leave a voicemail.
That indicates telemarketer/scam.

report it to the FTC here: https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0076-phone-scams

If someone on the phone is pressuring you to make a decision quickly and pay them money, it is probably a scam.

👍Great idea. I wish we could start a GoFundMe account, so that enough of this could be done to permanently put the scam callers out of business. Bravo!
