I'm hearing a lot of stories. I met several people last week who know someone who had a transplant. Hope your friend continues to have good health

My best buddy was not as lucky. Passed away three years and five months ago while waiting for a transplant. Had been on waiting lists since 2008 and was removed and added on three different times. Guess it depends on which state you live in or something.

My daughter has been a renal dietitian for over 20 years. She has had to say goodbye to many patients over the years. From the time my friend started dialysis to last week, it was 6 long years.

I think the waiting list is complicated, but with the Internet, matching and transport is helping to get a kidney to the right person. If one facility gets a kidney, they might offer it to another facility if they can't match it. My friend said that the waiting list in Ca. is 6 years, and much less in Minnesota and Hawaii. So sorry your friend didn't get the call.

I thought I would do more good as a caretaker, but I try to remind people to consider donating a kidney, or becoming a donor if they die. I read that if 10,000 people donated, there would be no waiting list.
