It's not just bears you have to watch out for.
Wolves, coyotes, mountain lions etc. too!

Or I would keep the dogs inside and build a high fence out in the backyard so they'd be safe out there.

It's a large size bottle of pepper spray that omes with a belt so you can have it on you when you go for a walk.
The brand I have is "Frontiersman"
Costs about $50
