My son is at school in Ripon. The high is going to be -2 tomorrow and the low -14!

You guys basically need to just stay in bed with all of your critters and sip tea while watching Netfilx. OK?

it would freeze the balls off a brass monkey. Well into the '90s this was normal weather. We'd get a cold snap around mid-January that would last two or three weeks and would never get above zero (I remember one day, I think it was in the '90s, when the actual temperature here was -30), and there'd be a little thaw for a week and we'd get hit again in February. And then in March we'd get a blizzard. I didn't have to walk a mile to school and back, uphill both ways, though.

and one night last week the low was -35 degrees. I wonder if they still claim "the coldest city in the USA"?

I did a field service job there back in the 90s and it wasn't too bad. Far from being common, all the environmental control systems were completely indoors, inside a huge over-sized boiler house.

It always tickled me up there and in Wisconsin, where the parking spaces in the plants all had electrical outlets for engine oil heaters, just so they could get their cars to crank after work!

The next significant snow will occur when the carburetor gums up again and it won't start.
