Thank you DU!

This is my 5000th post. I've lost track of how long I have been on DU - at least four years.

I am so thankful for DU. As someone in ruby red Arkansas, I sometimes think DU is my only link to sanity. I sincerely enjoy interacting with my fellow DUers (at least most of the time).

Thank you to the DU administrators and all my DU friends that I have never met. None of you know the good you have done for me. You have made me smile when I really needed it. More importantly, you have assured me that I am not alone.

Thank you all.

How do you think the mandatory mask mandate will shake out tomorrow? I know a lot of people who think this has been blown out of proportion.

I was at Wally World this afternoon. I'd say about half of the customers had masks.

My BiL suggested yesterday that issuing a mask order four months into a pandemic is like giving condoms at a baby shower.

However, he is a public school teacher who is genuinely concerned about the potential effect of the pandemic on his profession.

Of course, Bill also came along before Arkansas became so ruby red. Arkansas turned so red with the election of President Obama. Too many here will be slow to forgive the Democratic party of putting an AA man in the White House.

I started many years ago, using DU when i was transferred (for 5 years) to Texas. Like u said, they kept me from going insane. Rachel Maddow was on Air America radio, at the same time. Thanks to DU and Rachel..

at one time or another. I was directed to DU from another site shortly after the Gore/Bush fiasco. I went by another screen name back then, and was tombstoned (intentionally, on my own stupid part) in 2007 and took a "lurking hiatus". I begged the administrators to be allowed back in, they forgave me, and the rest is history. Back then, as it is now, DU is sometimes my only link to like-minded people. I'd go crazy without DU, there's no doubt in my mind.

Stay strong in Arkansas, TomSlick. We at DU are all in this together.
