A Harlequin White/Merle, also without the ears cropped. They are the sweetest dogs imaginable. We loved him like a child but lost him too soon (age 7). That is the problem with Danes: their hearts are often not big enough for their bodies.

It is such a shame about their hearts. I don't know if could endure losing one.

Too heart-breaking way too soon. It's bad enough when you lose them at 14 or 15.

We mourned that dog for a full year, and I would dream about him long after (transformed into a young man studying in school!). I swore no pets after that, but it was not to be after we had kids. Had a Tibetan terrier, who finally met his demise through cancer, and then inherited our daughter's rescue cat when she up and moved to Japan for a year. We kept her for seventeen more years, and had to put her to sleep a year ago. It broke my heart.

I can't stand the thought of owning another pet, because I can't take the loss anymore.
