Here is my current model:
As a kitten, he only had faint markings on his body but dark on his legs, head and tail. He's gotten a lot darker all over but he still has that Siamese personality.

(34,120 posts)He's a Humane Society rescue, one of a litter of a feral Mom cat found under a house. He was not properly socialized early enough, though he weighed only a few ounces when I adopted him. Now that he is ten years old, he's mellowed and no longer attacks me as often, though he still goes nuts every so often.

(115,267 posts)She has blue, slightly crossed eyes but doesn't have the Siamese voice. My gray tabby must have some Siamese ancestry, too, because he has both the 'meezer yowl and the long whippy tail.

(34,120 posts)I love her "I'm so bored with the paparazzi" look, too.
Tashi doesn't have the Siamese voice, just the attitude - and the tail. His newest thing is when I take a nap in the recliner he sits on the arm and whips me with his tail. It's amazing how much power a 10 pound cat has in his tail!

(115,267 posts)Lately her markings have become darker and there's a brown patch on her back. Oddly, her feet and legs are still white but her paw pads are dark brown instead of pink. There's some weird coloration things going on when you get Siamese DNA in the mix. I read somewhere that Siamese really aren't white cats with dark points, but dark cats with white bodies - the white is an overlay on the dark color. Go figure.
I love your guy's stripes. He's a beauty.

(34,120 posts)That dilutes the base color except on the points. The original Siamese were black base color with the dilution gene giving the classic color. Lilac is a dilution of solid gray, and so on.
I breed horses for dun, buckskin and grulla color - which involves the same gene. In those colors, the body can be any color from pale tan, gold, copper, to a chocolate color, but the points (legs, mane and tail) will be darker than the body, from red to black. In horses, the true albino gene is fatal but the dilution gene is very ancient.
I always thought it was cool that my favorite cat colors are genetically similar to my favorite horse colors!

(506 posts)Currently have a Seal Point and a Tortie Point. Have had seven others, the oldest one lived until 18 yrs old. Active in Siamese Rescue as a Shelter Contact, Intake Evaluator, and transporter. I'm helping with a transport on Saturday, that is moving three cats from Indianapolis to new homes in New England. I love the way meezers talk, and that they are so loyal and loving.

(389 posts)Our last five have been either strays or ferals. I have a friend who used to be a zookeeper and helped raise a florida panther cub. She used to take him on a leash for walks around the zoo.

(32,818 posts)Although I did have a RB Tabby cross that was damn near psychotic. When we moved into the new place it got out into the back yard, crossed over to the neighbours and refused to let him in his own house.
Damn I miss that cat.

(14,061 posts)She was a street cat when I found her.
When she had her recent checkup, the vet told us something interesting. Apparently in shelters Tortoiseshells are usually hard to adopt out because people don't like their looks. That boggles my mind because I think there is nothing prettier than her mix of orange, black, gray, and white fur. The way the light plays with the colors when she's in different lighting situations is just beautiful, at least in my opinion.
